Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.\nSummary\nSeeking a Level 4 Electrical Engineer, who is practical, systems-focused, and cross-disciplinary, to support magnetic bearing system development with emphasis on requirements development, circuit modeling, schematic design, hardware integration, controls, EMI mitigation, and test/debug. EMFEA experience is desirable, but secondary.\nKey Responsibilities\nTranslate system needs into electrical requirements, verification methods, and acceptance criteria\nDevelop and use circuit models in PSpice, LTSpice, or similar tools\nCreate and review schematics, select components, and account for failure modes and protections\nSupport integration of power electronics, controls, sensors, FPGA/I/O, and real-time test systems\nIdentify and mitigate EMI issues through grounding, shielding, filtering, layout, and cable practices\nEvaluate thermal impacts related to magnetic and power electronic hardware\nSupport closed-loop control integration and understand effects on stability and bandwidth\nPerform hands-on test, troubleshooting, and debugging of hardware and software\nInterface with suppliers and review technical outputs as needed\nSupport EM-related reviews when applicable\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline with 8 years relevant experience; Masters of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years relevant experience; PHD of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience.\nExperience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or equivalent scripting tools.\nExperience with requirements decomposition and electrical verification\nExperience with circuit simulation and correlation to hardware\nExperience with schematic development and power electronics\nKnowledge of EMI mitigation and controls integration\nStrong hardware test and debugging skills\nStrong communication skills\nUS Citizenship required.\nAbility to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret security clearance.\nDesired Qualifications\nHIL or real-time test experience\nFamiliarity with FPGA integration\nFamiliarity with thermal considerations for electrical hardware\nExperience with Speedgoat or Simulink Real-Time\nEMFEA experience with tools such as Ansys Maxwell or Altair Flux2D\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
