Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team in Plymouth, Minnesota, supporting critical programs for our defense customers.\nThis requisition may be filled at either the Electrical Engineer (Level 2) or Principal Electrical Engineer (Level 3) based on the selected candidate’s qualifications.\nRole Summary\nThe Electrical Engineer will apply a broad electrical engineering skillset to the design and development of cutting-edge military systems. This role spans concept development, detailed design, analysis, and verification of electronics used in demanding defense environments.\nResponsibilities\nLead and/or contribute to electrical design efforts for projects of significant complexity.\nPerform research, design, and development in areas such as:Power conditioning electronics\nAnalog and digital circuit design\nFPGA/ASIC design and verification\nOther general electrical engineering design tasks\n\nApply research results to the planning, design, development, simulation, and test of electrical circuits for military applications.\nGenerate design schematics, preferably using CAD tools such as Mentor Graphics.\nDevelop specifications and select components for electrical circuits in military systems.\nUse electrical CAD and simulation tools (e.g., Siemens EDA, Ansys, Vivado/Radiant/Quartus, VHDL-AMS, SPICE, Matlab) for circuit performance prediction and design optimization.\nOversee board layout to create printed wiring board (PWB) designs and provide key inputs to enable first-pass success.\nApply strong analytical skills to organize, prioritize, and execute assignments.\nCollaborate effectively within a product development team to understand system-level interdependencies that impact circuit requirements and constraints.\nProactively learn and adopt new design techniques, tools, and technologies.\nApply Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) disciplines, including design for assembly and design for manufacturing (DFA/DFM), where applicable.\nBasic Qualifications - Electrical Engineer (Level 2)\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or another STEM discipline.\n2+ years of experience in the design, build, and validation of electrical circuits; or a Master’s degree in lieu of the 2 years of experience.\nMust be a U.S. citizen.\nAbility to obtain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance after hire.\nSolid understanding of electronic product development processes.\nExperience creating and modeling electrical schematics and evaluating design robustness through simulation and lab testing, using electronic design schematic capture and simulation tools.\nAbility to evaluate and select components that meet applicable requirements.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.\nAbility to work both independently and in a team environment.\nAbility to perform effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with short turnaround times.\nAbility to travel occasionally to meet with government and industry customers and to interface with suppliers.\nBasic Qualifications - Principal Electrical Engineer (Level 3)\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or another STEM discipline.\n5+ years of experience in the design, build, and validation of electrical circuits; or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience; or PhD with 1+ year of experience.\nMust be a U.S. citizen.\nAbility to obtain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance after hire.\nSolid understanding of electronic product development processes.\nExperience creating and modeling electrical schematics and evaluating design robustness through simulation and lab testing, using electronic design schematic capture and simulation tools.\nAbility to evaluate and select components that meet applicable requirements.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.\nDemonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.\nProven ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with short turnaround times.\nAbility to travel occasionally to meet with government and industry customers and to interface with suppliers.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Mentor Graphics/Siemens EDA design and simulation tools.\nExperience in developing embedded systems that utilize high-performance FPGAs.\nPrinted wiring board (PWB) layout and design experience; knowledge of PWB manufacturing processes in accordance with IPC Class III requirements.\nExperience working with PWB and circuit card assembly (CCA) suppliers.\nExperience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).\nExperience developing high-reliability electronics for military environments, including:Extreme temperature conditions\nHigh-G shock loads\nVibration\nExtended storage durations\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
