The engineering team is dispersed across Sunnyvale, CA and Ocean Springs MS.\nThis is a programProduct Manager role with accountability for requirements and interface development, verification, mechanical design and development, engineering support of testing, qualification, and delivery of a complex hardware product for the U.S. Navy. The position responsibilities also include management of time keeping, performance reviews, staffing and resource planning, training, and team engagement. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated aptitude in areas of concept design rapid prototyping and testing, design of fabricated and machined components, CAD modeling / drawing review, requirements and interface management and verification, and successful execution of technical projects to cost and schedule targets.\nKey Responsibilities\nTechnical / Program Leadership\nProvide project and technical oversight of design activities performed by the group\nPrepare cost estimates, provide proposal inputs, and review proposal content for both internal and external customers\nGuide the mechanical design and development of fabricated and machined components, and electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic subsystems\nIncrease design engineering competencies through employee development and strategic hiring\nSupport test, qualification, and delivery activities, including review of test plans, procedures, and reports.\nProvide ownership of and direction to the design processes used in the group\nBasic understanding of the Design, Manufacturing and Test Integration process\nSupport department initiatives, forecasting and recruiting, technology roadmap creation, and champion continuous process improvements\nInterface regularly with program office personnel and customer representatives, clearly communicating status, risks, and mitigation plans\nPeople / Functional Leadership\nLead an integrated engineering team, providing clear direction, priorities, and technical mentoring.\nManage timekeeping, performance reviews, staffing and resource planning, and training for direct reports.\nGuide employees in career development, training, and engagement activities.\nSupport department initiatives including forecasting and recruiting, technology roadmap creation, and continuous process improvements.\nIncrease design engineering competencies through employee development, coaching, and strategic hiring.\nBalance employee needs, engagement, and career growth with business goals and program commitments.\nFoster a collaborative, inclusive environment that emphasizes safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 9 years of engineering experience; OR a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 7 years of engineering experience; OR a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 5 years of engineering experience\nMust be a US Citizen\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance (or higher)\nStrong fundamentals in Design Engineering\nExperience in systems engineering\nExperience leading teams\nProduction issues resolution\nStrong leadership qualities, including excellent communication and collaboration, team engagement, and organizational skills.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMaster's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline (preferred Mechanical Engineering) and 7 years of engineering or technical management experience\nExperience as a Technical Lead, Project Manager, or other demonstrated leadership role related to program execution\nExperience in functional/people management\nUnderstanding of launcher system principals of operation and design\nExperience with requirements and interface management and verification\nExperience with design of fabricated and machined components, or design of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic subsystems\nUnderstanding and knowledge of Agile (SCRUM) techniques and activities\nExperience with requirements and interface management and verification or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience\nTechnical project management experience with proven successful execution of technical projects to cost and schedule targets\nUnderstanding and knowledge of Agile (SCRUM) techniques and activities.\nKnowledge of Design Engineering processes, procedures and work instructions required to support both management and engineering tasks\nExperience with proposals and Earned Value\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $126,600.00 - $189,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
