Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for our location in Plymouth, MN.\nJob Summary\nPerform analysis, design, or test of one or more moderately complex or portions of complex materials, structural components, and functional systems of company products.\nGenerally work from preliminary studies developed by higher graded engineers. Analyze requirements for materials, structural component, or functional systems.\nSelect applicable analytical data from previous products, determine the technical principles involved, mathematically define the problem and compute the engineering characteristics consistent with the specifications, design needs and requirements of other portions of the product.\nRelease results as design data after review by higher graded engineer. Develop original ideas and elaborate on preliminary design concepts.\nEvaluate completed design with supervisor and other technical groups and make modification necessary to achieve the most ideal design.\nDevelop and coordinate the conduct of test programs requires to evaluate design work. Perform design, development, analysis, and/or test activities to support assigned projects.\nEstablish requirements for materials, structural components, and functional systems.\nRelease results as design data after review from other engineers.\nDetermine engineering tasks required for project planning and execution.\nDevelop original ideas on preliminary design concepts with other technical groups and make modifications necessary to achieve the most ideal design.\nDocument results of analysis, test, and design activities.\nBasic Qualifications:\n2-5 years of direct Mechanical Engineering Experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 0 years of experience with a Master’s Degree. \nStrong analytical skills and the ability organize/prioritize job assignments and tasks.\nWorking knowledge of mechanical computer aided design (CAD) software, preferably CREO (PTC). \nWorking knowledge of ANSI Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).\nWorking knowledge of manufacturing processes to include, but not limited to, machining, gauging, welding, and injection molding.\nMaterial selection experience of both metals and plastics. Preferred Qualifications:\nExperience developing electronics packaging solutions for challenging environmental conditions: shock, temperature, electromagnetic and others.\nElectromechanical mechanism or electro-explosive device design and analysis experience.\nPossess an understanding of finite element analysis techniques and tools.\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
