You will review contractual material, legal, and transportation requirements to provide packaging guidance for various shipments.\nThis position is 100% On-Site in Elkridge, MD.\nWhat You’ll Get to Do:\nDetermine packaging practices and material for various parts based on shipment requirements\nReview of contracts, purchase orders, and sales orders and facilitation of revisions to packaging information when necessary\nWriting, review, and revision of packaging instructions utilized by the shipping department\nWork with contracts, quality, engineering, manufacturing, and program teams to maintain best practices\nAudit packaging practices of the shipping team\nVerify material and packaging methods being used meet military packaging requirements\nDevelop and distribute military packaging training\nWork with senior packaging engineers at other facilities and adhere to a community of best practices\nAssist senior packaging engineers with the design and testing of packaging materials\nAssist with developing and utilization of tools to support packaging design and choice of containers used\nReview labeling practices and ensure methods being used meet military standards\nIdentify special material properties such as HAZMAT, electrostatic sensitive devices (ESD), moisture sensitivity, fragility, etc.\nDetermine required transportation methods\nEnsure that the Troy Hill facility utilizes proper tools and material when transporting or storing material\nOwn and review packaging, storage, and transportation records\nReview material and packaging costs as well as provide estimates for future shipments\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience in a manufacturing and/or shipping environment; Associate degree with 4 years of experience in a manufacturing and/or shipping environment; 6 years of experience in a manufacturing and/or shipping environment may be considered in lieu of degree\nExperience writing instructions based on complex requirements that can be understood by those without technical knowledge/experience\nExperience and ability to read and understand technical documents, drawings, and contracts\nAbility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Level Security Clearance\nU.S. Citizenship required\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience reviewing instructions or routings\nActive U.S. Secret Level Security Clearance or higher\nUnderstanding of MIL-STD-2073\nExperience using CAD\nFamiliarity with DoD contracts and military shipments\nMilitary packaging training\nStrong collaborative skills and ability to work with people with different skill sets\nNorthrop Grumman provides a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment which encourages your growth and supports the mutual success of our people and our company. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
