Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Principal Engineer Quality (CMM) located in Rolling Meadows, IL. \nWhat you will get to do:\nUtilize knowledge of ISO/ASME GD&T to interpret engineering layouts, drawings, and documentation to develop, validate, optimize and maintain advanced PC-DMIS inspection programs for DCC CMM systems.\nDevelop offline programming methodologies utilizing 3D models and model-based definition (MBD) datasets.\nClosely work with inspection management to build, formalize and maintain a documented training plan.\nEvaluate and interpret engineering models and calibration results.\nDemonstrate measurement methodologies to potential customers like Boeing, Lockheed Martin etc.\nCross train inspectors across the breadth of inspection tasks.\nAssist inspectors to inspect, verify, and validate parts and assemblies of mechanical, electrical, structural components or systems.\nMonitor and verify that product quality is in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and other control procedures.\nRead and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.\nMaintain necessary inspection documentation, write inspection reports, and enter inspection data and defect information into a computer database.\nParticipate in team activities and provide expertise and guidance for effective problem-resolution.\nServe as the interface between Design Engineering and Receiving Inspection personnel.\nThe ideal candidate must have knowledge of SAP (enterprise resource planning) to document inspection results, quality records, and manufacturing data.\nBasic Qualifications Principal Engineer Quality (CMM):\nBachelor’s Degree in a related STEM field of study with minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality; Master’s Degree in a related STEM field with 3 years of experience.\nHands-on experience developing PC-DMIS programs.\nExperience using CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and other advanced metrology equipment. \nComprehensive knowledge of metrology concepts, ASME Y14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing, GD&T and NIST traceable standards\nExperience with quality and regulatory standards (ISO 9001 or AS9100). \nAbility to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. \nUS Citizenship Required\n Preferred Qualifications:\nActive Secret Clearance\nExperience performing FAI and generating inspection reports (AS 9102)\nExperience assisting calibration of capital metrology equipment\nExperience in investigating and documenting EPRs (Equipment Performance Reports) related to calibration deviations\nMath heavy problem-solving experience to interpret complex blueprints, SPC (Statistical Process Control) data, and measurement uncertainties.\nExperience evaluating and selecting new metrology equipment\nExperience training inspectors on CMM measurement techniques, CMM programming, and metrology best practices\nExperience navigating CAD programs (NX, Creo, SolidWorks) and familiarity with MSA (Measurement System Analysis) and SPC software (Minitab, QC-Calc...).\nExperience developing measurement programs in PC-DMIS for use by quality personnel and troubleshoot CMM when needed\nManage test method equipment qualification activities in conjunction with Quality Engineering and Program Management\nExperience in a manufacturing, aerospace, or automotive environment.\nExperience writing precise technical reports and collaborate with QA personnel, Engineering and Production dept.\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
