Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman is seeking aPrincipal Microelectronics Engineer to support Surface Mount Technology Manual Assembly for Space Programs at our Space and Autoline Technology (SALT) facility in Elkridge Maryland.\nThe Principal Microelectronics Engineer will join Northrop Grumman’s Manufacturing organization and support the Space Manual manufacturing cell. In this fast-paced environment, the engineer will collaborate with multiple disciplines and focus on manual processes used to build Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) and Electronic Component Assemblies (ECAs). The Principal Microelectronics Engineer has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:\nFactory and Hardware Support:\nCollaborating with operations team to identify and implement improvements.\nEngaging directly with floor operations, addressing real-time challenges.\nInvestigating suspected non-conforming hardware, determining a path forward for rework or repair and providing initial root causes for manufacturing related defects.\nDeveloping and/or revising process documentation and manufacturing work instructions.\nAssisting with the training of new personnel and participating in the design of operator training materials.\nProcess Support & Development:\nDeveloping new and maintaining or improving existing manufacturing processes with a focus on quality, efficiency, and affordability.\nLeverage data to develop actionable insights and recommend improvements.\nDeveloping methods for process monitoring using existing and new interfaces.\nCreating, validating, and maintaining equipment. Conducting Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs) to validate new processes for the production cell.\nDesign Support:\nRecommending product design improvements required to produce advanced microelectronics products\nDocumenting state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designers\nParticipating in design producibility reviews for new products.\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related STEM area and a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience (or a minimum of 3 years with an MS). \nExperience working in a manufacturing environment.\nFluency in MS Office software applications.\nThe ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Level Security Clearance is required.\nUS Citizenship is required.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with CCA and ECA manufacturing technologies, specifically manual processes. Familiarity with Space Class hardware (CCA and ECA) manual rework and repair processes.\nExperience with J-STD, MIL-STD requirements and Space Class hardware requirements, including AS9100, J-STD-001, IPC-A-610.\nExperience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.\n#MFGCMP\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
