Our differentiated battle management and cyber solutions deliver timely, mission-enabling information and provide superior situational awareness and understanding to protect the U.S. and its global allies.\nNorthrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Process Engineer based out of Rolling Meadows, IL.\nThe Process Engineer will be part of Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Engineering team, where they will work on products such as Electro-Optical Distributed Aperture (EO DAS), Internal FLIR Targeting System (IFTS), and Electro-Optical Subsystem (EOSS) Systems. They will research, design, develop, order, test, maintain, and identify improvements / corrective actions for a variety of electronic equipment, electronic and optical systems, including lasers, infrared sensors, fiber optics, along with an assortment of production and test equipment and associated systems.\nWhat you will get to do:\nResearch, design, develop, procure, test, maintain, and implement improvements or corrective actions for a range of electronic and electro optical equipment-lasers, infrared sensors, fiber optic systems, and associated test hardware.\nSupport repair and sustainment of Electro Optical Distributed Aperture (EO DAS) sensors and integrated FLIR targeting systems.\nDesign and validate new manufacturing processes and custom fixtures.\nCreate and maintain manufacturing engineering documentation such as change notices, routing instructions, and electronic work instructions (eWI).\nProvide technical guidance and engineering assessments to production technicians, covering failure analysis, process methodology, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nTroubleshoot production hardware to pinpoint root cause failures and recommend corrective measures.\nCollaborate with suppliers to resolve technical hardware issues.\nDevelop and analyze performance metrics to drive cost reductions and efficiency gains.\nApply continuous improvement techniques (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean) to lower costs and boost production efficiency.\nWork with suppliers to resolve technical hardware issues.\nCreate and analyze metrics to target cost and efficiency improvements.\nThe ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, organization skills, and the ability to collaborate in a team environment.\nBasic Qualifications for the Process Engineer:\nBachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience; OR a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.\nExperience in process development, fixture design, and troubleshooting.\nExperience in hardware design and manufacturing.\nExperience with reviewing engineering drawings\nExperience in a manufacturing environment.\nExperience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.\nAbility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.\nUS citizenship required.\nPreferred Qualifications for the Process Engineer:\nSix Sigma Certification\nExperience with infrared camera systems and internal workings\nExperience in laser welding\nExperienced user of SAP\nExperience with Electro-optical systems\nNorthrop Grumman work experience\nExperience in test, & validation of Electronic or Circuit Card assemblies\nTechnical writing expertise, including the creation of work instructions\nExperience with Microsoft Project and Earned Value Management\nExperience with any engineering related software tools, such as NX or other CAD software.\nActive security clearance.\nWhat We Can Offer You:\nNorthrop Grumman provides a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment which encourages your growth and supports the mutual success of our people and our company.
