This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.\nThe System Safety Engineer Level 3 will support system safety activities associated with qualification, production, test, and flight readiness of Solid Rocket Boosters used in NASA’s Space Launch System Program. \nJob responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:\nThe System Safety Engineer is responsible for coordinating with programs and other\nundefined\nThey will interact with our NASA customer and provide vital vehicle risk data derived from such activities as Hazard Analyses, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, and Probabilistic Risk Assessments.\nThe System Safety Engineer provides system safety expertise in participation with the\nsubsystem Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). They are expected to understand the design intent, failure modes, requirements and specifications of the product as well as the manufacturing processes, process controls, and quality inspections. They directly support and interface with our NASA customer and their government representative (DCMA).\nundefined\nOther duties as assigned\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5 years of professional experience - OR - Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience - OR - PhD with 1 year of professional experience. \nMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance\nUnderstanding of and experience with MIL-STD-882E to analyze, recommend, and drive safety into system design, equipment and procedures in order to mitigate or eliminate hazards.\nExperience with developing, reviewing, updating, and approving system safety artifacts and system safety requirements such as System Safety Program Plan (SSPP), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), System/Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SHA/SSHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Safety Assessment Report (SAR), Software Safety Analysis, and the Missile System Pre-launch Safety Package (MSPSP).\nFamiliarity with AFSPCMAN 91-710 and Range Safety compliance.\nFamiliarity/experience with Probabilistic Risk Assessment, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, Hazards Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Risk Management\nAbility to work independently and effectively communicate (verbal and written) with internal and external customers.\nStrong technical writing skills.\nGeneral understanding of spacecraft design and operation.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nUnderstanding of launch operations\nExperience with developing safety analyses supporting on-orbit operations\nWorking knowledge of OSHA general industry standards (29 CFR 1910)\nINCOSE CSEP or CSP certification preferred\nCAFTA fault tree experience\nEPLM or similar PLM tool experience\nNG TRIO, Tetra, or similar risk management tool experience\nCurious about all the exciting developments with the Northrop Grumman Space Sector? Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
