We continue to pursue growth opportunities evidenced by opening more branch offices throughout the Southeast region.\nPOSITION PURPOSE: \nThe Project Engineer position requires increasing responsibility as an engineer. In addition to responsibilities assigned to the Design Engineer, the Project Engineer is expected to assemble individual task assignments into complete plan sets and reports. This position is expected to assign tasks to a new Design Engineer and exhibit the ability to mentor, train, teach, and check a Design Engineer's work.\nPrimary assignments for this position will be performed under the supervision of a Professional Engineer and will be project assignments, instead of individual tasks, when applicable. \nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nPerforms all duties of a Design Engineer\nManages small projects to gain experience in project management and writes structural specifications\nPrepare reports outlining opinions and recommendations for the approval of a Project Manager concerning the production of the project\nPrepares design plan sets for construction, implementing design objectives set forth by the Project Manager\nConfers with management on all major project decisions such as client contact, design, construction cost, and schedule\nResolve day-to-day problems, mostly of a technical nature\nWork alongside functional departments to fulfill corporate needs\nAdheres to LBYD Corporate Values\nADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nMay act as technical advisor to design engineers assigned to the project, as determined by the Project Manager\nMay perform site visits and prepare reports during the construction of a project.\nMay be asked to travel to out of town/ state assignments\nMay be the primary contact for the project designers at other companies on a project team.\nOther responsibilities as required\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nEducation and Experience:\nBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus.\nMinimum of 2 years of design related experience\nSkills and Abilities:\nProven success within the Design Engineer role\nDemonstrated proficiency with LBYD’s design software\nShown ability and aptitude to complete tasks working with multiple managers\nUnderstands the tasks required to complete the production of a plan set\nAbility to produce and assemble a complete set of drawings that follow LBYD and industry drawing standards, resulting in a complete and coherent plan set\nThorough understanding of the project process and working knowledge of most aspects of LBYD’s structural engineering design\nDemonstrated ability to communicate with internal design teams and external stakeholders \nSpecial Requirements:\nRequired to have passed or is preparing to take the Professional Engineering (PE) Exam. \nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: \nPE License\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nExerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. \nWORKING ENVIRONMENT:\nWork generally conducted indoors in an office setting with occasional travel to project sites but may serve as a Field Engineer during construction.\nNorth Wind offers a competitive pay and benefits package to include health, life, and disability insurance benefits, 401(k) with company match, generous paid leave and tuition reimbursement for eligible employees.
