If that's you, we disproportionately reward it.\nAbout the Role\nNourish is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead Platform Engineering, the team responsible for managing Nourish's technical infrastructure systems ensuring system reliability and scalability, while accelerating developer velocity as we grow both our team and our product rapidly! You'd own the architecture that keeps patient and provider workflows dependable under increasing load, build the architecture that lets product teams ship without rethinking infra patterns, and help harden our shared LLM/RAG systems into safe, measurable, production-grade systems.\nThis is a full-time role. We strongly prefer candidates based in New York City or San Francisco, with exceptions for truly exceptional candidates. Check out Engineering at Nourish to learn more about our team and what we’ve already built.\nKey Responsibilities\nBuild, lead, and develop a high-performing team of 4-5 engineers with strong technical ownership.\nCoach engineers through regular feedback, career development, calibration, and performance management.\nScale the team through recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.\nStay hands-on through architecture, pair programming, coding, code reviews, and on-call.\nSet the vision and roadmap for the team by collaborating with engineering leads, security, IT, and other cross functional partners. \nDrive thoughtful decisions around system design, code quality, observability, reliability, and scalability.\nEstablish effective team rituals, including sprint planning, OKR planning and reporting, quarterly planning, and retrospectives.\nOperate with urgency and sound judgment in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.\nSet the technical direction for systems that support business-critical work across the engineering org. \nReport on platform health to leadership through clear metrics like uptime, incident response time, infrastructure cost, and time-to-production KPIs.\nPartner with our IT and legal teams to maintain and improve our posture on security and compliance controls.\nBuild reliable, auditable systems that can safely scale through rapid growth and regulatory complexity.\nWe’d Love to Hear from You If You:\nHave 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with modern full-stack technologies and 2+ years of hands-on engineering management experience.\nHave hired engineers and managed performance, promotions, and career development.\nRemain technical enough to pair program with your team and contribute directly when needed.\nBring exceptional cross functional judgment: you can write a PRD, understand product team bottlenecks, size an opportunity, and make progress without waiting on external stakeholders.\nAre highly proficient with TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, ECS on AWS, or similar modern stacks.\nHave shipped and owned production systems in a fast-moving, ambiguous
