Does that sound like you?\nAbout the Job:\nAs Automation and Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in improving plant reliability, productivity, and safety through automation and process control technologies. You will serve as the site's subject matter expert for process control and Operational Technology (OT), acting as a key link between local and regional teams.\nThis is a hands-on position where you will support and improve control systems, lead automation initiatives, and contribute to capital projects. You will work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and global automation teams to ensure the site's systems remain reliable, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices.\nLocation: Los Reyes La Paz, State of Mexico (Mexico City Area)\nThis position is fully onsite, 5 days per week.\nCandidates must be fully fluent in English.\nImportant: Please apply with an English resume.\nIn your future role as Automation and Controls Engineer, you will:\nSupport and optimize the site's Process Control Systems (PCS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and data historian platforms\n\nOwn and improve Siemens-based control systems across the plant\n\nTroubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLCs, control logic, automation hardware, and industrial networks\n\nPerform system maintenance activities including backups, software updates, hardware upgrades, and lifecycle management\n\nImplement programming and configuration changes to improve plant performance, reliability, and operational efficiency\n\nAct as the site's process control and automation expert, providing technical guidance and support to local teams\n\nSupport automation and Operational Technology (OT) projects from planning through execution\n\nDefine technical requirements and support project scope development\n\nReview technical solutions, vendor proposals, and project deliverables\n\nPartner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and regional automation teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives\n\nDevelop and maintain the site's control system lifecycle strategy to ensure long-term reliability and sustainability\n\nSupport alarm management processes, alarm rationalization activities, and system optimization efforts\n\nMaintain SIS systems and coordinate required Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) proof testing activities\n\nEnsure systems comply with applicable safety standards, engineering guidelines, and industry best practices\n\nSupport capital projects and automation upgrades across the site\n\nParticipate in on-call support as needed to help minimize production downtime and maximize plant performance\n\nWe Believe You Bring:\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field\n\nEquivalent hands-on experience in industrial automation and process controls may also be considered\n\nAt least 5 years of experience in process control, automation, or controls engineering within manufacturing or process industries\n\nStrong hands-on experience with industrial control systems and automation technologies\n\nExperience with Siemens PLCs, Simatic Manager, and related controller software\n\nExperience designing, implementing, and supporting batch and continuous process control systems\n\nStrong troubleshooting skills involving both control logic and hardware\n\nKnowledge of PID control strategies and process optimization techniques\n\nExperience supporting automation, controls, or Operational Technology (OT) projects\n\nAbility to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and functions\n\nFull professional fluency in both English and Spanish\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience within the chemical, specialty chemical, refining, or similar process industries\n\nExposure to Siemens control systems\n\nExperience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)\n\nFamiliarity with HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL methodologies\n\nExperience with Statistical Process Control and alarm rationalization\n\nKnowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC UA, DeviceNet, and ControlNet\n\nFamiliarity with ISA standards, plant safety systems, and industry best practices\n\nWorking knowledge of SAP PM\n\nGood to know:\nThis is a permanent, full-time, fully on-site role 5 days/week at our plant in Los Reyes (La Paz).\nPlease apply via our online recruitment system.
