Does that sound like you?\nAbout the job\nAs a Process Engineer, you will serve as a technical lead for process improvements and capital projects at our Houston site. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys spending time in the plant, collaborating with operators and other technical experts, and turning real manufacturing challenges into practical engineering solutions.\nUnlike a traditional day-to-day production engineering role, this position has a greater focus on medium- and long-term improvements, process design and capital project execution.\nIn your future role as a Process Engineer you will\nLead process engineering activities for capital projects, including project development, justification, design, Process Safety Information, execution and commissioning. \nIdentify and lead process optimization and cost-reduction opportunities while troubleshooting assigned manufacturing units. \nLead and participate in Process Safety Management activities, including Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), incident investigations, and hazard studies. \nDevelop practical engineering solutions by spending time in the field and collaborating closely with operators, maintenance, chemists, and other engineers. \nSupport process and equipment changes by developing documentation and training engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel. \nSupport site HSES, environmental and quality initiatives, including process troubleshooting, corrective actions, and continuous improvement. \nWe believe you bring\nA Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. \n5+ Years experience in Process or Production engineering in PSM regulated chemical manufacturing\nHands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, with the ability to translate field experience into practical process designs and improvements. \nExperience with process design, capital project development, and execution, process optimization and root cause problem solving. \nWorking knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and experience participating in activities such as MOC, PSSR, PHA/hazard studies, or incident investigations. \nStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across operations, maintenance, engineering, and site leadership. \nGreat if you have\nExperience with batch chemical processes in a PSM-regulated facility. \nExperience with project management/Stage-Gate processes, equipment selection, and relevant engineering standards such as API and ASME. \nExperience with root cause analysis methodologies such as 5 Why or Cause Mapping. \nWe believe you are\nYou are a hands-on and collaborative engineer who enjoys spending time in the field and learning directly from the people closest to the process. You communicate effectively across different functions and are comfortable taking ownership of projects independently while knowing when to involve others. You are organized, curious and solutions-oriented, with the ability to identify opportunities, turn ideas into practical improvements and see projects through to completion.\nThe hiring manager particularly emphasized the importance of someone who can talk to operators and experienced site employees, gather information that may not yet be documented, and take ownership of a project through completion.\nWe offer you\nAt Nouryon, you will join an experienced and collaborative technical team where you will have the opportunity to make a visible impact on site performance.
