Does that sound like you?\nIn your future role as aRail Logistics Specialist, you will\nThe Rail Logistics Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end execution and monitoring of rail transportation activities. This role provides rail logistics expertise to Nouryon sites and works cross-functionally to ensure shipments are executed safely, efficiently, on time, and at optimal cost.\nResponsibilities Include:\nPlan, execute, monitor, and manage end-to-end rail transportation activities, ensuring compliance with established processes, Nouryon policies, procedures, and applicable transportation requirements.\nEnsure timely and accurate execution of rail shipments to support customer requirements, plant operations, inventory needs, and service expectations.\nUtilize SAP, IntelliTrans, Railinc, railroad systems, and other logistics technologies to monitor rail shipments and railcar activity, identify exceptions, and take appropriate corrective action.\nProactively identify and resolve transportation disruptions, shipment exceptions, system issues, and operational constraints that could impact customer service or plant operations.\nMonitor railcar movements, availability, cycle times, dwell, fleet utilization, and other transportation activities to identify risks and improvement opportunities.\nEnsure logistics activities are executed at an optimal balance of cost, operational efficiency, reliability, and customer service.\nSupport effective railcar fleet utilization by identifying equipment needs, transportation constraints, excess capacity, and opportunities to improve railcar productivity.\nMaintain accurate transportation data and documentation within applicable logistics and ERP systems.\nEscalate significant transportation, carrier, system, or service issues to the Rail Logistics Team Lead and appropriate stakeholders when necessary.\nCoordinate daily rail transportation activities with plants, Customer Service, Planning, railroads, and logistics providers. \nMonitor rail shipments, railcar inventory, equipment availability, and transportation exceptions. \nAnalyze KPIs and operational performance to identify trends and improvement opportunities. \nSupport transportation forecasts and railcar capacity requirements. \nInvestigate issues, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective actions. \nMaintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, railroads, railcar lessors, storage providers, and other logistics partners. \nProvide proactive updates on performance, risks, issues, and improvement initiatives to the Rail Logistics Team Lead. \nSupport standardization, automation, and continuous improvement of logistics processes. \nDemonstrate Nouryon values and Code of Conduct expectations.\nWe believe you bring\n3 to 8 years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, customer service, or related operations. \nBachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred. \nRelevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.\nRail transportation or chemical industry experience preferred. \nExperience managing transportation activities and resolving operational issues. \nExperience with process improvement, cost reduction, and service improvement initiatives. \nKnowledge of North American rail transportation processes and requirements preferred. \nExperience working with railroads, railcar lessors, storage facilities, or other rail service providers preferred. \nWorking knowledge of SAP, IntelliTrans, Railinc, railroad systems, TMS, Excel, and Microsoft 365 preferred. \nExperience with Power BI, data analytics, or similar reporting tools is a plus. \nExperience with AI platforms, automation tools, or participation in AI/digital transformation projects is a plus.\nStrong knowledge of rail transportation and logistics operations.\nAbility to independently manage day-to-day transportation activities while recognizing when escalation is necessary.\nStrong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.\nDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot transportation, process, and system-related issues and develop effective solutions.\nAbility to interpret operational data, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to communicate effectively with multiple levels and functions within the organization, including plant personnel, Customer Service, Supply Chain, leadership, global teams, carriers, and third-party service providers.\nAbility to develop, monitor, and support operational goals and KPIs.\nAbility to make sound decisions using available data while establishing a clear path forward.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.\nSelf-directed, proactive, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.\nAbility to collaborate cross-functionally and influence outcomes
