You would be leading technical projects, bringing new products into manufacturing, and collaborating across functions. Does that sound like you?\nAbout the job\nAs a Senior Development Engineer within our Polymer Platforms and Technologies group, you will play a key role in driving capital projects, introducing new products, and supporting safe and efficient manufacturing processes. You will work closely with R&D and operations teams, with a primary focus on our Salisbury, North Carolina manufacturing site.\nIn your future role as Senior Development Engineer, you will\nLead capital investment projects, including early-stage engineering (FEL 1 and 2), project scope development, cost estimates, business cases, and coordination with external engineering firms.\nDrive new product introductions (NPIs), including process scale-up, production trials, process design, and successful transfer from R&D to manufacturing.\nEnsure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements, including Management of Change (MOC) and participation in HAZOP/PHA reviews.\nLead process transfers to internal and external manufacturing sites, ensuring product quality, safety, and operational readiness.\nTroubleshoot manufacturing and product quality issues through root cause analysis, statistical methods, and implementation of corrective actions.\nCollaborate with R&D, operations, quality, regulatory, and technical service teams to support manufacturing improvements and resolve technical challenges.\nWe believe you bring\nA Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.\nExtensive experience in chemical manufacturing or process engineering, particularly within polymers, specialty chemicals, or organic chemistry processes.\nStrong experience leading capital investment (CapEx) projects, including project planning, engineering design, cost estimation, and management of external contractors.\nExperience with new product introductions, process scale-up, and technology transfer from development to commercial manufacturing.\nSolid knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM), process hazard analysis, and manufacturing safety requirements.\nStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.\nGreat if you have\nExperience with Front-End Loading (FEL 1 and 2)\nA Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Six Sigma certification, or Professional Engineer (PE) license.\nExperience with SAP, JMP, statistical process control, or process simulation tools.\nWe believe you are\nSelf-driven and independent, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and take ownership of technical challenges.\nAn effective communicator, capable of bridging the gap between R&D and manufacturing operations and translating complex technical information into practical solutions.\nAnalytical and solution-oriented, with a structured approach to troubleshooting and continuous improvement.\nCollaborative, building strong relationships across teams, manufacturing sites, and external engineering partners.\nSafety-conscious, demonstrating a strong commitment to safe manufacturing practices and operational excellence.\nWe offer you\nAt Nouryon, you will join a global technology organization supporting our polymer manufacturing operations.
