We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join this dynamic team and help us continue to exceed customer expectations.\nAs a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for creating, modifying, testing and delivering control systems for drilling machinery and equipment, with a primary focus on PLC and/or HMI development. Your role will include programming new functionality, upgrades and improvements in accordance with the Field Engineering business process. The complexity and variety of these control systems offer a broad range of tasks and opportunities for professional development. You will work closely with various technical disciplines and software specialists across the global company to ensure seamless integration and performance.\n General Duties\nSoftware Development and Improvement:\nDevelop and update NOV Control Systems with new functionality.\nModify and improve existing software and processes.\nAnalyse existing software to enhance or adapt functionality.\nSupport the integration of PLC and HMI software with associated control systems and equipment.\nTesting and Quality Assurance:\nPerform in-house testing and quality assurance of software deliveries.\nIdentify and resolve software issues during development and testing.\nDocumentation and Reporting:\nCreate and update technical documentation.\nMonitor and report on the progress of assigned software work, including schedule and budget data.\nProject Management:\nProvide estimates of the hours required for assigned software work.\nPlan and manage assigned activities to meet agreed delivery schedules.\nCoordinate with local and intercompany resources as required.\nTechnical Support:\nProvide software-related technical support to sales engineers, project engineers, field service technicians and other internal stakeholders.\nSupport the Service Department during installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of control system software.\nSkills\nTechnical proficiency in relevant software development tools and control system technologies.\nWillingness and ability to continuously learn and develop technical skills.\nAbility to create and maintain clear and accurate technical documentation.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nEffective planning, organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.\nAttention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.\nUnderstanding of risk management principles.\nAbility to adapt to changing technical requirements, priorities and environments.\nEffective verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to work effectively within multidisciplinary and global teams.\nStrong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.\nStrong internal and external customer focus.\nHigh standards of integrity, professionalism and accountability.\nSafety, Sanitation, Security and Housekeeping\nEnsure proper housekeeping is implemented and maintained in your work area.\nReport all work-related incidents within 24 hours to the HSE department for action.\nAdhere to and comply with all safety signage and PPE requirements.\nExercise Stop Work Authority where required and report any unsafe acts or omissions immediately to your supervisor to assist in reducing and eliminating health, safety or environmental risks or hazards.\nAdhere to all approved HSE policies and work procedures under KP8.\nQuality Assurance\nCarry out all duties in accordance with the Company’s quality assurance policies, procedures and work instructions.\nOther\nNOV is an equal opportunity employer.
