NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a CMT Engineering Technician to join our growing team in Tampa, Florida. In this role, you'll perform construction materials testing, special inspections, and field observation services on a variety of commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, transportation, and infrastructure projects throughout the Tampa Bay region.

As a CMT Engineering Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of construction projects by performing field testing, inspections, documentation, and quality assurance services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform field testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, masonry, grout, mortar, and reinforcing steel in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, FDOT, and project specifications.
- Conduct construction materials testing and inspection services on commercial, transportation, infrastructure, educational, healthcare, and industrial projects.
- Observe construction activities and collect field data on active construction sites.
- Review construction plans, specifications, and testing requirements prior to field assignments.
- Document testing results, observations, and site conditions using electronic reporting platforms such as Metafield.
- Communicate testing and inspection results with NOVA project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients.
- Identify and document construction deficiencies, quality concerns, and non-compliant conditions.
- Perform testing and inspection activities in accordance with applicable FDOT, ASTM, ACI, and project requirements.
- Maintain, calibrate, and care for testing equipment in accordance with industry standards.
- Safely work on commercial, transportation, and heavy civil construction projects throughout the Tampa Bay area.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience in construction materials testing, special inspections, construction inspection, geotechnical testing, or related field services.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Level I
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and testing requirements.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to complete electronic field reports.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Candidates possessing one or more of the following certifications are highly desired, but not required:

- FDOT CTQP Concrete Field Technician
- FDOT CTQP Asphalt Roadway
- FDOT CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection
ICC Certifications:
- ICC Soils Special Inspector
- ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
- ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector
- ICC Structural Steel & Bolting Special Inspector
- ICC Structural Welding Special Inspector
- ICC Spray Applied Fireproofing Special Inspector
