This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed engineer with a strong background in geotechnical engineering who enjoys managing projects, providing technical oversight, and working directly with clients.\nThe ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with geotechnical investigations, engineering analysis, foundation and earthwork recommendations, and technical report preparation and review. Experience supporting Construction Materials Testing (CMT), Special Inspections, and/or Threshold Inspections is highly preferred and would be especially valuable in this role.\nNOVA supports a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, retail, government, office, transportation, and residential projects. This position will play an important role in reviewing technical reports, mentoring junior staff, managing projects, and delivering practical engineering solutions to our clients.\nKey Responsibilities:\nManage geotechnical engineering projects from initial proposal and subsurface exploration through analysis, reporting, and construction-phase services.\nPlan and oversee subsurface investigations, including soil borings, test pits, field testing, laboratory testing, and related field activities.\nPerform and review geotechnical engineering analyses and develop recommendations related to foundation systems, site preparation, earthwork, settlement, bearing capacity, groundwater conditions, pavement systems, and other geotechnical considerations.\nPrepare, review, and approve geotechnical engineering reports, calculations, recommendations, and other technical deliverables.\nServe as a technical reviewer to ensure reports are accurate, technically sound, and consistent with applicable standards and project requirements.\nProvide engineering oversight and technical support during the construction phase, including evaluation of field conditions and resolution of geotechnical issues.\nProvide technical oversight for Construction Materials Testing and Inspection activities as needed, including soils, concrete, masonry, asphalt, and related construction materials.\nSupport and/or provide engineering oversight for Special Inspections and Threshold Inspections, depending on candidate experience and qualifications.\nMentor and provide technical guidance to staff engineers, field technicians, inspectors, and other technical personnel.\nCoordinate with contractors, developers, architects, structural engineers, civil engineers, and other project stakeholders.\nDevelop project scopes, proposals, budgets, and schedules while monitoring projects for technical quality and financial performance.\nMaintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities to provide additional geotechnical, testing, and inspection services.\nParticipate in business development efforts, including proposal preparation, client meetings, and project pursuits.\nQualifications:\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license is required.\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, or an equivalent international degree with NCEES credential evaluation, is required. \nMinimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, special inspections, and construction materials testing.\nStrong understanding of soil mechanics, subsurface conditions, foundation engineering, earthwork, and construction-phase geotechnical services.\nAbility to independently review technical reports, calculations, field data, and engineering recommendations.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and client relationships.\nStrong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.\nPreferred:\nExperience with Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and Threshold Inspection projects\nBenefits & Perks:\nComprehensive group medical insurance, including health, dental and vision\nOpportunity for professional growth and advancement\nCertification reimbursement and incentive program\nPaid time off\nCompany-observed paid holidays\nCompany paid life insurance for employee, spouse and children\nCompany paid short term disability coverage\nOther supplemental benefit offerings including long-term disability, critical illness, accident and identity theft protection\n401K retirement with company matching of 50% on the first 6% of employee contributions\nWellness program with incentives\nEmployee Assistance Program\nNOVA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
