The successful candidate will play a key role in evaluating existing structures, reviewing structural designs for code compliance, and providing engineering guidance on both new construction and existing building assessment projects.\nPOSITION SUMMARY:\nThe Senior Engineer will serve as a technical leader supporting a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential projects throughout South Florida. This role will focus heavily on structural plan review, existing building evaluations, Milestone Inspections, 40-Year Recertifications, Threshold Inspections, and code compliance services.\nThe successful candidate will work closely with property owners, architects, contractors, attorneys, municipalities, and internal engineering teams to evaluate structural conditions, review engineering documents, provide technical oversight, and support clients throughout the lifecycle of their facilities.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nConduct and oversee Milestone Inspections and 40-Year Recertification evaluations for existing structures in accordance with Florida statutes and local jurisdiction requirements.\nPerform structural condition assessments and engineering evaluations of commercial, residential, institutional, and mixed-use buildings.\nReview structural plans, calculations, shop drawings, and engineering documents for compliance with applicable building codes and project requirements.\nSign and seal engineering reports, structural evaluations, structural plan reviews, and other engineering documents as required.\nSupport and perform Threshold Inspection services in accordance with Florida Building Code requirements.\nProvide technical oversight and engineering support for Construction Materials Testing (CMT), Special Inspection, and quality assurance programs.\nReview field reports, laboratory testing data, engineering analyses, and technical documentation for completeness and accuracy.\nCollaborate with building owners, condominium associations, architects, contractors, municipalities, and design professionals to resolve structural and code-related issues.\nAssist with forensic assessments, structural distress investigations, and property damage evaluations as needed.\nMentor junior engineers, inspectors, and technical staff.\nSupport business development efforts through client relationship management and identification of additional consulting opportunities.\nMaintain current knowledge of Florida Building Code requirements, Milestone Inspection legislation, structural assessment standards, and industry best practices.\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.\nFlorida Professional Engineer (PE) license required.\nMinimum 8 years of structural engineering or related consulting experience.\nExperience performing structural plan reviews and engineering evaluations.\nStrong understanding of structural systems, building materials, and structural assessment methodologies.\nExperience with existing building evaluations, rehabilitation projects, or structural condition assessments.\nWorking knowledge of Florida Building Code requirements and local jurisdictional review processes.\nKnowledge of Threshold Inspections, Special Inspections, and quality assurance programs.\nStrong communication, project management, and client relationship skills.\nAbility to manage multiple projects and client priorities simultaneously.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nSignificant experience performing Milestone Inspections and 40-Year Recertification engineering evaluations.\nExperience with Broward County and Miami-Dade County structural review requirements.\nExperience serving as Engineer of Record for repairs or rehabilitation projects resulting from recertification evaluations.\nThreshold Inspection experience.\nStructural forensic engineering experience involving condition assessments, structural failures, and property damage investigations.\nBuilding Envelope consulting experience.\nFamiliarity with ASTM, ACI, ICC, and Florida Building Code standards.\nExisting relationships with South Florida property owners, condominium associations, municipalities, architects, contractors, or developers.\nPERKS & BENEFITS:\nIn addition to our welcoming company culture and competitive compensation packages, our employees enjoy the below benefits:\nComprehensive group medical insurance, including health, dental and vision\nOpportunity for professional growth and advancement\nCertification reimbursement\nPaid time off\nCompany-observed paid holidays\nCompany paid life insurance for employee, spouse and children\nCompany paid short term disability coverage\nOther supplemental benefit offerings including long-term disability, critical illness, accident and identity theft protection\n401K retirement with company matching of 50% on the first 6% of employee contributions\nWellness program with incentives\nEmployee Assistance Program\nNOVA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
