The selected engineer will be focused on developing and maintaining the multi-platform Motion control libraries delivered together with our products. These libraries simplify the commissioning of the system by providing high level abstraction layers and advanced diagnostic functions (i.e. Motor identification and tuning using Bode Plots and Pole-placement, Feedbacks calibration, etc.)\nPrimary Responsibilities\nDevelop and maintain a set of Communication libraries\n\nDevelop and maintain a set of Motion Control libraries, including advanced identification algorithms and tuning tools\n\nDevelop and maintain Graphical User Interfaces to simplify the commissioning of the servo-drivers\n\nMake performance and optimization trade-offs to meet product requirements\n\nWrite internal documentation for Novanta Motion software platforms (architecture, detailed design, etc.).\n\nWork closely with the Firmware team to improve Novanta Motion products and software solutions.\n\nDefine, together with the Quality Assurance team, test plans for Novanta Motion software products.\n\n Required Experience and Education\nBSc, MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline\n\nMinimum experience: 2+ years Skills and Competencies Minimum requirements:\n\nStrong proficiency in Python.\n\nMotion control knowledge (motor types, feedback sensors, controls, etc.).\n\nExperience in source code control for software development (i.e. Subversion, Git, etc).\n\nExperience with software testing methodologies and automated testing practices.\n\nKnowledge of Agile development methodologies.\n\nPersonal Interest in the Robotics / Motion Control field.\n\nFluent written and spoken Spanish and English.\n\n Nice to have requirements\nCapacity to analyze a problem from multiple perspectives and explore creative solutions\n\nSelf-motivated with strong drive to achieve business objectives\n\nPositive, proactive, and energetic attitude\n\nHigh attention to detail with a desire for excellence\n\nIndustrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, Profinet, CANOpen)\n\nExperience developing desktop applications using Qt, PyQt, PySide, or similar technologies.\n\nExperience developing cross-platform software applications for Windows and Linux environments.\n\nPrevious experience in motion control, robotics, lab or medical automation markets will be highly appreciated.\n\nExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills\n\nAbility to understand and communicate complex ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.\n\nAbility to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.\n\nPassion for learning and adopting new technologies.\n\nNovanta is proud to be an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action workplace.
