If you're passionate about automation, continuous improvement, and leveraging DeltaV technology to solve complex challenges, we'd love to hear from you.Job Description\nLocation:\nThis position will be located in Durham, NC and will be an onsite role.\nNovartis is unable to offer relocation support for this role: please only apply if this location is accessible for you.\nKey Responsibilities:\nServe as a DeltaV SME, providing technical expertise for automation systems supporting GMP manufacturing operations.\nDesign, configure, troubleshoot, and optimize DeltaV control strategies and system performance.\nSupport the full automation system lifecycle, including implementation, upgrades, maintenance, and retirement.\nLead automation projects from concept through commissioning, qualification, and operational handover.\nPartner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Validation, and IT teams to deliver automation solutions.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, efficiency, and product quality.\nInvestigate automation deviations, implement corrective actions, and support CAPA activities.\nDevelop and maintain automation documentation, including specifications, test protocols, and system drawings.\nEnsure automation systems remain compliant with GMP, FDA, and data integrity requirements.\nProvide technical mentorship and subject matter expertise for DeltaV and site automation technologies.\nEssential Requirements:\nBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or a related technical field with 8+ years of experience supporting GMP pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations; or equivalent experience.\nStrong hands-on experience programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining DeltaV DCS automation systems.\nExperience supporting SCADA, HMI, PLC, BMS, and manufacturing automation platforms in a regulated environment.\nDemonstrated knowledge of GMP, FDA, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements supporting manufacturing automation systems.\nExperience with automation system validation, qualification, and lifecycle management within GMP operations.\nProven ability to lead automation projects, execute complex change controls, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.\nExperience developing automation documentation, technical specifications, and test protocols.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills with experience partnering across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, and IT teams.\nNovartis Compensation and Benefit Summary:\nThe salary for this position is expected to range between $108,500 and $201,500 annually\nThe final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.\nYour compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.\nUS-based eligible employees will receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life and disability benefits, a 401(k) with company contribution and match, and a variety of other benefits.
