Automation Engineer Intern

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Position Overview:

Novelis in Uhrichsville, OH has an opportunity to participate in our on-site summer 2027 internship. The team is seeking an Automation Engineering Intern that can join the team for approximately 12 weeks. The person in this role will have the opportunity to participate in relevant work and gain hands on industry experience.

Responsibilities:

· Responsible for working in corroboration with Automation engineering team members on manufacturing challenges

· Creating, modifying and maintaining automation documentation such as drawings and network diagrams

· Set up and maintain work procedures and fixing processes for automation systems.

· Ensure equipment and process reliability, minimizing unplanned downtime, standardizing work methodology in the automation environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Sophomore, Junior or Senior year student working toward a degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

· Proven eye for business

· High curiosity about becoming an Automation engineer in a manufacturing environment

· Strong leadership and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with SQL programming and relational databases

· Experience in Windows operating system management and configuration as it pertains to a networked manufacturing environment

· Experience in software development with Microsoft Visual Studio / Development tools and C#, JSON, C++ and VB.Net programming is a plus

· Experience in Rockwell Automation PLC systems is a plus

Location Profile

Opened in 1985 the Uhrichsville facility produces flat rolled aluminum sheet. The rolling mill cold rolls aluminum sheet to a desired gauge anneals to temper levels and slits the rolled sheet to size. Employing more than 350 people the facility produces aluminum sheet for building and construction automotive distribution transportation and consumer durable applications.
