The primary focus of this position is maintenance, service and repair of facilities and equipment. Successful Electrical Technicians are fast learners and self-motivated, independent workers. They have the ability to work under pressure and the willingness to work in varying conditions. Electrical Technicians receive training in troubleshooting, technical procedures, and safety. They help create, maintain, and repair the electronic components and equipment used in any machinery that involves electricity. They work on site to keep machinery and specialty equipment running correctly.\nResponsibilities\nUse specialized measuring and diagnostic devices to evaluate equipment \nInspect for problems \nWork with wires using hand tools while handling small components \nRepair and replace defective components in motors, generators, controllers, storage batteries, switchboards, conductors, switches and varied electrical fixtures \nInstall, maintain and repair electrical, electromechanical, and electronic parts of machinery and equipment \nPerform defensive repair and preservation of field, plant and shop for electronic and electrical systems, equipment, and devices \nRead and interpret blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams \nPlan and prepare work orders or instructions utilizing blueprints, sketches, and drawings \nQualifications\n2 Year Electrical Degree or 5+ years experience \nMedical Clearance for use of Fall Protection Harness (Weight restrictions related to equipment limitations may apply) \nExperience with: \nPower Distribution \nIndustrial motor control (A/C & D/C Controls) \nProcess control and instrumentation \nCombustion control systems \nComputer skills / computer operated control systems \nLadder logic \nPreferred Qualifications\n Manufacturing experience preferred \nLocation Profile\nNovelis Oswego is located in northern Central New York on the shores of Lake Ontario and employs approximately 1200 people.
