Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Novelis has approximately 13,000 employees in 32 operating facilities on 4 continents.\nResponsibilities & Qualifications\nThe Novelis Ashville Rolled Products North America (RPNA) division is seeking to add a Mechanical Engineer to its team. The individual in this position will use mechanical engineering knowledge to support high volume aluminum coating & slitting processes through OpEx & CapEx initiatives/projects in a collaborative team environment.\nResponsibilities:\nParticipate in & support all aspects of the Novelis safety systems and Safety Absolutes.\nEnsure work done aligns with all corporate, plant, and regulatory safety standards.\nEnsure safety is designed into all aspects of assigned projects.\nEnsure vendors and contractors meet Novelis safety requirements\nEngage collaboratively & participate in support of the plant single-agenda and plant ethos.\nProvide Engineering Support for industrial continuous coating lines, multiple slitting machine centers, & facility systems.\nProvide specific support to fix equipment issues and perform root cause analysis.\nDevelop & implement corrective and preventive actions to improve asset reliability.\nLead and support capital projects & other improvement projects from a mechanical engineering standpoint collaborating for on-time & on-budget results.\nSupport outages and shutdown work in coordination with reliability, operations & supply chain.\nManage vendors, contractors, and internal project teams as needed.\nSupport the site Reliability Excellence process through participation in and support of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, spares planning & management, reliability best practices, etc.\nSupport the Novelis Operating System (NOS) as they relate to Reliability Excellence & Operator Care Practices.\nOther items as assigned.\nAdhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.\nMinimum Qualifications\nMechanical engineering degree, or degree in related engineering field, required.\nMinimum 3 years of related industrial experience, including planning, specification, and implementation of engineering design projects.\nExperience in the aluminum industry preferred; experience with continuous flat rolled product process preferred.\nTechnical and process management skills are needed in this position, with potential ability to work multiple projects simultaneously.\nStrong knowledge of maintenance processes is beneficial\nMust possess strong decision making and problem-solving skills including the ability to solve problems while exhibiting practical judgment and realistic understanding of the issues involved.\nAbility to overcome obstacles and find reasonable resolutions to situations on a case-by-case basis as encountered.\nMust have the ability and confidence to make decisions relating to role’s accountabilities.\nAbility to exercise discretion when determining if direction from manager is needed.\nAbility to lead and participate collaboratively.\nEffective communication and teamwork skills.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nCMMS experience.\nExperience in aluminum or steel manufacturing.\nExposure to TPM, Lean, or Six Sigma.\nAutoCAD or SolidWorks knowledge.\nMilitary MOS Crosswalk can include but is not limited to:\nArmy\n12A - Engineer Officer\n91A - Abrams Tank System Maintainer\n91B - Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic\n91C - Utilities Equipment Repairer\n91D - Power Generation Equipment Repairer\n91E - Allied Trades Specialist\nNavy\nMM - Machinist’s Mate\nMR - Machinery Repairman\nHT - Hull Maintenance Technician\nEN - Engineman\nAir Force\n2A6X1 - Aerospace Ground Equipment\n2A5X1 - Airlift & Special Mission Aircraft Maintenance\n2A3X3 / 2A3X4 - Tactical Aircraft Maintenance\n2A7X1 - Aircraft Metals Technology\n21A - Aircraft Maintenance Officer\nMarine Corps\n1316 - Metal Worker\n3521 - Automotive Maintenance Technician\n3529 - Motor Transport Maintenance Chief\n6048 - Aviation Maintenance Administration\nPlease note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
