Be part of a team driving the success of Novelis’ global businesses in automotive, aerospace, beverage can, and specialty markets.\nResponsibilities\nPrioritize Safety: Demonstrate a personal commitment to laboratory safety by adhering to Novelis safety rules and processes, ensuring safety remains the top priority.\nSupport Product and Process Development: Contribute to the development of aluminum flat-rolled products by optimizing processes such as ingot homogenization, hot and cold rolling, heat treatment, and quenching to optimize microstructures for specific properties and performance metrics.\nAssist Alloy Development: Learn and apply advanced material characterization techniques to support alloy development activities.\nManage Priorities: Independently balance multiple work streams supporting project leaders to meet deadlines and deliverables. \nExecute laboratory and pilot-scale plans to support development activities and assist plant-scale trials to ensure operational readiness for new products and processes.\nCollaborate Across Teams: Work seamlessly with metallurgy and laboratory teams. \nPerform Experiments and Investigations: Plan, execute, submit LIMS requests, compile results from experiments, plant trials, and product performance investigations for research projects. \nDrive Innovation: Create intellectual property to differentiate Novelis from competitors and maintain its leadership position. \nEnhance R&D Capabilities: Contribute to improving methods, techniques, equipment, and quality within the R&D organization. \nMinimum qualifications\nBachelor of Science in Metallurgical, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering\nUp to 3 years of industrial experience\nUnderstanding of microstructure-property relationships in metals and alloys\nDemonstrated problem-solving ability and curiosity in applying current technologies to technical challenges\nCitizen or permanent resident of the United States of America\nPreferred qualifications\nPassion for research and development in aluminum flat-rolled products and processes\nHands-on experience designing and executing experimental test plans\nFamiliarity with sheet metal processing operations\nMetallurgical characterization and qualification testing skills\nExpertise in leveraging computer-aided design, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to drive engineering innovation\nEagerness to learn and apply CALPHAD-based computational thermodynamics software, such as Thermo-Calc, JMatPro, FactSage, and Pandat.\nUnderstanding of project management principles\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\nAbility to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment\nFamiliarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems\nPlease note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
