The team is seeking a Tribochemistry Co-Op that can join the team for approximately 5 months starting in May 2027. This role is responsible for developing laboratory methods to simulate plant emulsion conditions and evaluate how changes in emulsion chemistry and properties influence tribological performance and metal surface characteristics.\nResponsibilities\nPrepare and maintain emulsion formulations under controlled laboratory conditions.\nDesign and execute experiments (DoE) to simulate emulsion aging under operating conditions.\nConduct tribological testing and emulsion characterization.\nPerform characterization of aluminum surface resulted from emulsion study using analytical techniques to assess changes in surface morphology and chemistry.\nAnalyze experimental results and summarize findings in technical reports and presentations.\nMinimum qualifications\nUndergraduate (Junior or Senior preferred) or graduate students pursuing degrees in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.\nEnrolled in an accredited 4-year undergraduate or 2-year masters program.\nStrong academic foundation in chemistry, materials science, or mechanics.\nHands-on laboratory experience, including sample preparation and experimental testing\nAbility to work independently in a research environment.\nMust be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer\nPreferred qualifications\nInterest in surface science, tribology, lubrication, or aluminum processing.\nExperience with surface characterization techniques. \nExperience organizing, analyzing, and interpreting experimental data.\nStrong problem-solving and organizational skills.\nClear written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting and presentations\n*Please note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
