Directly responsible for installation, maintenance & repair of all equipment concerned with plant operation, services & buildings, including storage & inventory of spare parts. Use basic hand and specialty tools for repairing equipment in accordance with established safety procedures.\nResponsibilities\nRead blueprints & wiring diagrams for the installation & repair of equipment and the facility\nExamines mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble. Disassembles, repairs/replaces parts, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, etc.\nDevelops simple types of experimental & operating equipment\nCleans, lubricates & adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary\nMajor electrical repairs including 3-phase, 440 & PLC, new installations of equipment, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances\nUses precision measuring tools/devices, hand tools, and testing instruments\nInspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits\nIsolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as an ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp, or growler\nReplaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems\nDismantles electrical transformers & lighting fixtures into position. Completes circuits according to specifications\nPerforms all work in accordance with established safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out\nEnsures electrical work conforms with requirements of local building and safety codes\nRequisitions new parts and equipment\nMaintains a clean and orderly work area throughout the shift\nCommunicates problems encountered throughout the shift to the Plant Engineer\nInstalls lighting fixtures and replaces bulbs and ballast\nPerforms carpentry, plumbing, and painting-related work\nOperates any equipment needed to perform job\nPerforms other related duties to contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervision\nRepairs parts that require minor machine work & welding. Uses gas & electric welding equipment\nHas operating knowledge of all production & service equipment\nQualifications\nHigh School Degree or GED equivalent \n2 years of previous related experience \nBasic mathematical ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit numbers, including fractions. Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight, measurement, and volume\nHigh degree of knowledge of equipment and aptitude for understanding mechanical systems through formal training and/or education\nBe able to perform repairs (including electrical).
