As a Technical Service Intern, you will join a team of scientists at our North American Headquarters and one of North America’s largest biotechnology manufacturing facilities, where innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement drive meaningful results.\nThis is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience while contributing to projects that support our Applications Science program, improve business results and help shape the future of biosolutions for the food industry.\n\nKey responsibilities include: As an intern on the Novonesis Baking Technical Service team, you will be mentored by an Applications Specialist and work in our Baking Lab to advance our knowledge on our product portfolio and how our enzymes can be used most effectively by the baking industry to address the latest market needs. You will be given ownership of a project that involves experimentation, data analysis, interpretation and creativity. You will be treated like a member of the broader Food & Beverage team co-located in our Applications Center in the greater Raleigh-Durham area (Franklinton, NC). You will participate in cross-functional meetings and events, learn from your colleagues, and support the various lab activities and lab programs that keep things running smoothly on behalf of customers. In addition, you will be part of a diverse cohort of interns across other departments including Operations, Quality, R&D and Planetary Health Business units who all will share related experiences over the summer\n\nWhat You’ll Need to Be Successful\nWe are looking for students who are currently pursuing a degree in:\nBaking Technology \nFood Science and Industry \nCereal Chemistry \nOr a related technical discipline \nRequired qualifications and competencies:\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills \nInterest in baking \nAbility to work independently under general direction of project goals and standard procedures \nAttention to personal safety and food safety programs \nEffective communication and collaboration skills, including experimental documentation and summary reports and presentations \nMinimum 3.0 GPA \nSophomore standing or higher at the time of application. \nAbility to arrange your own housing and transportation. \n\nAdditional Skills & Interests We Value\nWhile not required, the following qualifications would be beneficial:\nExperience with baking bread and working in a laboratory \nExperience working with food formulas including scaling and calculations in Excel \nComfort in asking for help or additional direction \nCuriosity, initiative, and a desire to learn in a fast-paced techno-commercial environment. \n\nWays of Working / Working Conditions\nFull-time (40 hour a week) onsite in Franklinton, NC \nExposure to confidential business strategy and technology that cannot be shared outside of Novonesis \nRequired use of personal hygiene and protective equipment (PPE) when working in the Baking Lab \nCompensation & Benefits\nHourly wage of $23\n\nRelevant Information\nProgram Dates: May 24th, 2027 to July 30th, 2027 (extension into August is acceptable) \nPosition Type: Temporary position payrolled through a third-party provider \nApplication Deadline: October 18, 2026 \nOur purpose guides the way\nIn Novonesis, we know that solutions rooted in biology can help solve humanity’s biggest challenges.
