You will design and develop a Python-based application that automates data quality review processes, identifies potential data issues, and provides actionable feedback to researchers before data are advanced into downstream analytics and decision-making workflows. The project will support PBARD's ongoing digital transformation efforts by reducing manual review time, improving data integrity, and enabling faster access to high-quality field trial results.\nKey responsibilities:\nDevelop a Python-based automated quality control (QC) tool for field trial data.\nDesign validation checks to identify missing, inconsistent, or potentially erroneous data.\nCreate user-friendly reporting capabilities that summarize quality issues and recommend corrective actions.\nPartner with researchers and business stakeholders to translate operational needs into effective technical solutions.\nDocument the application, support user adoption, and present project outcomes and recommendations to R&D leadership.\nWhat You’ll Need to Be Successful\nRequired qualifications\nPursuing an M.S. or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field. \nStrong Python programming skills. \nExperience with data analysis libraries such as Pandas and NumPy. \nExcellent problem-solving and communication skills. \nAdditional Skills & Interests We Value\nExperience with ARM or agricultural field-trial data.\nExperience with experimental data analysis, machine learning, databases, data visualization tools, or Django-based Python application development.\nInterest in agriculture, biological research, or digital transformation.\nWhat We Offer\nThis internship offers the opportunity to apply software engineering and data science skills to a real-world business challenge while contributing directly to the future of sustainable agriculture.\nWays of Working / Working Conditions\nFull-time internship assignment lasting approximately 10 weeks.\nLocated on-site at our Morrisville, NC facility. \nCompensation & Benefits\nExpected salary: $28/hr\nRelevant Information\nProgram Dates: May 24th, 2027 to July 30th, 2027\nPosition Type: Temporary position payrolled through a third-party provider\nApplication Deadline: October 30, 2026\nOur purpose guides the way\nIn Novonesis, we know that solutions rooted in biology can help solve humanity’s biggest challenges.
