Nox Metals is an American metals supply startup that sells aluminum plate and bar cut to size, using software and automated processing to deliver material to US factories faster, headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 2024, the company raised an $11.5 million seed round, runs a processing facility in Ferndale, Michigan and has staff in Los Angeles and San Francisco, offering online instant quotes for alloys such as 6061, 7075 and cast tooling plate. It hires plant and production managers, saw operators, material handlers, manufacturing engineers, full-stack and machine learning engineers, and sales and business development staff.

About Nox Metals. American factories deserve a supply chain that moves as fast as they do. Nox Metals is building it, along with the tools that run it. We’re a technology company with operations in Metro Detroit and Los Angeles, supplying aluminum plate, bar, and rounds to aerospace and defense manufacturers. We use software and automation to supply metal to American factories faster than the industry thought possible.

The role. We’re hiring Manufacturing Engineers to make our factories safer, faster, and more repeatable. You will improve the systems that turn incoming aluminum into accurate, on-time customer shipments: equipment, tooling, layouts, work instructions, data collection, and operator workflows.

This is a floor-first engineering role. You will spend time where the work happens, understand the constraint, test practical improvements, and make sure the new process holds.

You will:

  • Improve safety, quality, throughput, uptime, and material flow

  • Study production constraints and turn observations into measurable improvements

  • Design tooling, fixtures, layouts, and operator workstations

  • Create and maintain clear work instructions and standard processes

  • Support equipment selection, installation, commissioning, and ramp-up

  • Investigate defects, downtime, and missed targets through structured root-cause analysis

  • Build useful production metrics and verify that improvements deliver results

  • Partner with operators, maintenance, quality, software, and leadership

  • Train teams on new processes and incorporate floor feedback

  • Support production directly when an urgent issue threatens safety or delivery

You are:

  • Hands-on and happiest solving problems on the factory floor

  • Committed to safety and unwilling to trade it for speed

  • Analytical, observant, and disciplined about root causes

  • Comfortable with drawings, process data, and technical documentation

  • Able to explain technical changes clearly to operators and leaders

  • Practical about cost, timing, and implementation

  • Respectful of operator knowledge and willing to test your assumptions

  • Organized, dependable, and accountable for results

Nice to have:

  • Experience with metals, cutting equipment, CNC machinery, or material handling

  • Experience with CAD, fixtures, controls, or equipment commissioning

  • Familiarity with Lean methods, statistical process control, or preventive maintenance

  • Experience connecting production equipment and software systems

Benefits:

  • Equity in Nox Metals

  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance

This role is full time, in person in either Detroit, Michigan, or Los Angeles.
