This will underpin essential services, including\nTelecommunications, \nOnline banking, \nEmergency response, \nTransport networks, and \nWider digital and data-driven operations.\nTogether, these services form the backbone of modern society - and your leadership will help ensure they remain secure, reliable and robust even if global navigation satellite systems fail.\nKey responsibilities:\nDeliver high-quality code/automation/runbooksfor the build andsupport of servers and software\nContinually improve knowledge and skillsto keep abreast of technological advancements, understand the impact of your work,and communicate opportunitieswith your team\nDemonstrate strong, clear, and engaging communication skills,whilst contributing effectively as part of a team\nSecurity mindset\nAbout You\nTo be successful in this role, you will have the following skills, experience, and qualifications:\nEssential:\nKnowledge of Windows or Linux, with a willingness to develop skills across both\nScripting and automation (such asBash, PowerShell, Packer, Ansible, Terraform, Docker,etc.)\nA degree(or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, or closelyrelateddiscipline\nHighly-desirable:\nPython\n\nSoftware development in a Unix/Linux environment\nInternet protocols and services (such as SMTP, DNS, HTTP, etc.)\n\nVMWare\n\nProgrammatic / automation mindset that streamlinesworkflows, whilst collaborating with teamsto improve platform support\nIt is also desirable if you have interest in Physics, measurements, and communications, for example:\nTime and frequency measurement and time scale steering\nReal-time monitoring and control of electronic hardware\nSatellite communication, optical fibreand GNSS-based systems\nPlease note:We strongly encourage applications from candidates who may not meet all of the listed criteria.\nWe actively recruit citizens of all backgrounds, but the nature of our work in specific departments means that nationality,residencyand security requirements can be more tightly defined than others.
