Working across finance, payroll, credit control, procurement and legal, you’ll collaborate with experienced professionals and business leaders to provide the insights, controls and services that keep the organisation running effectively. It’s an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, work across a diverse range of disciplines and contribute to the success of both our people and our clients.\nBring your expertise to our team as a Payroll Accountant, who ensures accurate accounting, reconciliation and reporting of payroll-related financial information. You support Finance and HR by maintaining high-quality payroll data, preparing journals, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with Australian statutory requirements. This role is technical, analytical and systems-focused, drawing on hands-on experience with Oracle and ADP payroll environments.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nPayroll Accounting & General Ledger\nPrepare payroll journals, accruals (e.g., annual leave, long service leave, bonuses, terminations etc).\n\nReconcile payroll control accounts, superannuation clearing accounts, PAYG withholding and other payroll-related balance sheet items\n\nExecute GL file controls and ensure accurate mapping between payroll systems and Oracle financials\n\nPayroll Reporting & Compliance\nPrepare monthly, quarterly and annual payroll reports for Finance, HR and external stakeholders.\n\nSupport statutory reporting including PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, and other employer obligations.\n\nEnsure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, Awards, EBAs and Fair Work requirements\n\nData Integrity & Reconciliation\nValidate payroll inputs received from the payroll operations team (without processing pay runs).\n\nInvestigate and resolve variances, discrepancies and exceptions, ensuring data accuracy and audit readiness\n\nMaintain high-quality employee payroll records and ensure confidentiality\n\nSystems & Process Improvement\nUse hands-on experience with Oracle and ADP to support system configuration, reporting, and integration activities\n\nPartner with HR, Finance and IT to improve payroll accounting processes, controls and reporting\n\nAssist with system upgrades, testing, and documentation of payroll accounting procedures.\n\nStakeholder Support\nProvide payroll accounting insights to Finance, HR and external auditors.\n\nRespond to escalated payroll accounting queries (not operational payroll queries).\n\nSupport internal and external audit processes with reconciliations and documentation\n\nSKILLS & EXPERIENCE\nCPA/CA qualified with a relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent\n\n5+ years’ experience in payroll accounting, payroll analysis or financial accounting with payroll exposure\n\nStrong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, Awards and EBAs\n\nDemonstrated experience with Oracle (Fusion or EIS) and ADP Payforce payroll systems\n\nAdvanced Excel skills for reconciliations, variance analysis and reporting\n\nHigh numerical accuracy, analytical capability and attention to detail\n\nAbility to manage strict deadlines and high-volume reporting cycles.\n\nExceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.\n\nStrong communication skills to liaise effectively with cross-functional teams and auditors.\n\nWHY YOU’LL LOVE WORKING AT NRI\nAt NRI, we believe great careers are built through solving complex challenges, continuous growth and the opportunity to make an impact.Whether you're deepening your technical expertise, developing as a leader or exploring where your career can take you next, you'll have the opportunity to build capability, make an impact and shape what's next.\nBuild expertise that makes an impact.Work alongside talented technologists, consultants, industry specialists and problem-solvers on complex challenges that create real outcomes for our clients.
