Working with internal teams, distribution network service providers (DNSPs), consultants, contractors and equipment suppliers, you will help turn complex sites into safe, accessible and commercially viable energy assets.\nThis role will suit an engineer who enjoys combining technical design, field investigation and stakeholder engagement, and who wants to see their engineering decisions translated into nationally significant infrastructure.\nBased in Sydney or Brisbane, this permanent full-time role offers significant flexibility to work from home, balanced with planned travel to project sites across Australia.\nYour key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:\nConduct site feasibility inspections to gather information about power supply options, existing electrical infrastructure, underground services, and EV charging bay layouts. \nDevelop site feasibility proposals that include concept layouts, power solutions, and capital cost estimates. \nComplete desktop evaluations of candidate locations and coordinate or support field inspection activities. \nPrepare and submit DNSP enquiries and applications and coordinate technical engagement through connection assessment and approval processes. \nDevelop concept and detailed electrical designs, drawings, calculations, equipment requirements and technical documentation. \nReview engineering designs, identify coordination issues, and provide clear technical input and recommendations. \nPrepare concept designs and technical scopes for requests for quotation in collaboration with delivery and procurement teams. \nWork with partners to deliver, test and commission EV charging and energy infrastructure assets. \nContribute to the development of technical standards, procedures, CAD templates, and reusable design assets. \nApply and advocate for inclusive and accessible design principles in EV charging infrastructure. \nWhat You'll Bring\nA recognised Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline. \nDemonstrated post-graduate engineering experience contributing to the design or delivery of grid-connected electrical infrastructure, distributed energy or comparable projects. \nExperience preparing electrical designs, calculations, drawings and technical documentation. \nWorking knowledge of Australian electrical installation requirements and the ability to identify and apply relevant legislation, codes and standards. \nStrong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders. \nThe ability to prioritise work across multiple projects, communicate risks early and meet agreed commitments. \nA practical safety mindset and commitment to quality, collaboration and continuous improvement. \nThe ability to undertake planned travel to project sites across Australia. \nHighly regarded: \nDesign or delivery of high-power DC EV charging infrastructure. \nBattery energy storage systems (BESS), solar photovoltaic systems, and microgrids. \nDNSP connection enquiries, applications, and technical engagement. \nAutoCAD or similar engineering drawing software. \nElectrical cost estimating, commissioning, fault investigation, or technical assurance. \nDevelopment of technical standards, design templates, or controlled engineering documentation. \nChartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status. \nRegistration as a Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ). \nExperience supporting or mentoring developing engineers. \nWhat's in it for you?\nAt the NRMA we aren’t just about discounts (although you do get these too).
