Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nExpert knowledge of Iñupiaq language, culture, history, traditions, or fine arts.\nSpeaks Iñupiaq, fluently preferred. \nUnderstands and speaks some conversational Iñupiaq, required. \nKnowledge of best practices in teaching, including constructivist approaches, hands-on learning, and language development. \nKnowledge of/experience in developing and supporting family involvement in education.\nUnderstands Iñupiaq pedagogical philosophy.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills. \nAbility to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including educators, students, and community members.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nDepending on the type of expertise, duties and responsibilities could include, but are not limited to: \nFacilitate Iñupiaq arts programs, including sewing and fine arts. \nFacilitate and teach Iñupiaq culture, history, traditions, or language. \nFacilitate and teach traditional land use and values. \nModel and teach Iñupiaq values with a sensitivity to diversity. \nPracticing and applying Iñupiaq pedagogical principles. \nHave high expectations for student achievement and behavior. \nEducating the whole child intellectually, spiritually, socially, culturally, emotionally, and physically.\nFacilitate short-term intensive programming based on designated programming coordinated by the Iñupiaq Education Director & Site Principal. \nCollaborate with colleagues and community/parent volunteers. \nAdhering to District policies and regulations. \nPerforming such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign. \nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
