We provide cost-effective, high-performance infrastructure for AI start-ups and large enterprise customers. Nscale enables AI-focused companies to achieve superior results by reducing the complexity of AI development. Our GPU cloud bolsters technical capabilities and directly supports strategic business outcomes, including cost management, rapid innovation, and environmental responsibility.\nWe thrive on a culture of relentless innovation, ownership, and accountability, where every team member takes pride in their work and drives it with excellence and urgency. As an Nscaler, you’ll build trust through openness and transparency, where everyone is inspired to do their best work. If you join our team, you’ll be contributing to building the technology that powers the future.\n\nAbout the Role (Job Purpose)\n\nThe Deputy Manager is the Infrastructure Operations Manager’s right hand on site, sitting one level beneath them and taking ownership of the operational side of the data centre so the Manager can focus on the administrative and strategic side.\nThis is a hands-on operational role rather than a purely administrative one. You will organise the team day to day, keep the white space running as it should, own documentation, SOPs and training, and support deployment handovers. You will not hold sole line-management responsibility, but you will step up to cover rota and absence management when the Manager is away.\nThe role works office hours, Monday to Friday, with National public holidays as per location, plus an alternating weekly on-call rotation with the Infrastructure Operations Manager for call-out situations. You will report to the Infrastructure Operations Manager and work closely with engineers, operators, the deployment team, and on-site vendors.\n\nWhat You’ll be Doing (Responsibilities)\n\nSite Operations\nTake day-to-day ownership of operations on site, making sure the white space is running as it should.\nAct as the operational decision-maker during day shift, escalating to the Infrastructure Operations Manager where appropriate.\nOversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of HPC and GPU systems alongside the engineering team.\nIdentify and address operational risks proactively, and propose improvements that make the site run more efficiently.\nTeam Coordination & Development\nOrganise and coordinate the operations team day to day across engineers, operators, and partner staff.\nProvide training and guidance to junior team members so the site is covered by people who know the procedures.\nManage the rota and absence cover, and deputise for the Infrastructure Operations Manager when they are away.\nDocumentation & Standards\nOwn and maintain site documentation and SOPs, keeping them accurate as the site changes.\nMake sure procedures are followed consistently, and that new starters have what they need to work to them.\nFeed operational lessons back into standards and training.\nDeployments & Vendor Coordination\nWork closely with the deployment team through handover, making sure work is completed and properly transferred into operations.\nCoordinate day-to-day alignment between the site team and on-site vendors.\nAct as an operational point of contact during day shift.\nOn-Call & Incident Response\nParticipate in an alternating weekly on-call rotation with the Infrastructure Operations Manager.\nRespond to P1 and P2 call-out situations, coordinating the response and escalating where needed.\nContribute to root cause analysis and follow-up actions after incidents.\n\nAbout You (Skills / Qualifications)\n\nProven operational experience in a data centre environment, with genuine technical insight into how the site runs.\nStrong working knowledge of HPC and GPU installations, including hardware configuration and network architecture.\nAdvanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, with the judgement to know when to escalate.\nA collaborative operator who works well inside a team and can influence without formal authority.\nComfortable relocating to, and living in, Glomfjord.\nAdaptable to a fast-moving scale-up where processes are still being built, rather than a large and highly structured organisation.\nOrganised and diligent, with a bias towards documenting and standardising rather than firefighting.\nWilling to participate in an on-call rotation.\nNice to Have\nExperience coordinating or leading a team, including rota and absence management.\nCertifications in data centre management (e.g. CDCP, CDCS, or similar).\nHands-on experience with NVIDIA GPUs, CUDA, and AI frameworks.\nExperience working alongside third-party or partner staff on site.\nNorwegian language skills.\nWhy this role matters\nThe site runs around the clock, and the Manager cannot be across every operational decision. The Deputy holds the day-to-day operation together - keeping the white space running, making sure the team knows the procedures and the procedures are written down, and providing continuity when the Manager is unavailable.\n\nWhat We Can Offer You\n\nYou’ll have the opportunity to help shape the operating standards behind a next-generation AI cloud platform, working on complex infrastructure challenges with real ownership and impact. This is a chance to play a meaningful role in scaling high-performance, sustainable data centre operations in a fast-moving environment. \n\nEqual Opportunities Statement\n\nWe strongly encourage applications from people of colour, the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, parents, carers, and people from lower socio-economic backgrounds.\nIf there’s anything we can do to accommodate your specific situation, please let us know.\nThe responsibilities outlined in this job description are not exhaustive and are intended to provide a general overview of the position. The employee may be required to perform additional duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management, consistent with the skills and qualifications required for the role.\n\nFor information on how Nscale handles candidate personal data, please see our Employee & Candidate Privacy Notice: Here.\nNscale does not accept unsolicited candidate submissions from recruitment agencies.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6278,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":5,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[{"language":"Norwegian","level":"All levels","optional":true}]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Data Centers & Colocation","AI Compute & Inference"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-10T20:22:42Z"}],"liveness":{"score":74,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.818,"p_room":0.9,"age_days":33,"expected_fill_days":63,"reasons":["conf:11","velocity","win:mid","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-10-01T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/nscale-infrastructure-operations-deputy-manager","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/nscale-infrastructure-operations-deputy-manager.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-01T19:38:16Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":2301,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":2699,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-02T00:00:00Z"}}}
