As a People Systems Engineer, you’ll build the custom tools, integrations, and AI agents that make our People platforms work as one system and help our teams support a growing global workforce.\nThis is a greenfield opportunity to shape how we build. You’ll have meaningful ownership of technical design, tooling, and delivery, with room to experiment with frontier AI capabilities and take promising ideas into production. Your scope includes extending Workday and Greenhouse, connecting systems, and independently developing applications and services beyond existing platforms.\nWorking alongside the People Systems Product Manager and Corporate Engineering partners, you’ll build agentic workflows that answer questions, complete tasks, and bring people in when judgment is needed. Trusted workforce data and permission-aware access are foundations for this work, allowing agents to act under the user’s identity and within applicable permissions, business rules, and approval requirements.\nOur engineering principles are straightforward: use proven platforms where the problem is solved, build where we need something new, and make agentic workflows a core part of how we scale. Everything we deploy must be something we can support.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nIndependently design, build, and support custom People tools, applications, and services\nDevelop agentic workflows and People capabilities for Nscale’s shared employee agent, taking emerging models and AI tooling from experimentation into production\nBuild integrations and automations across Workday, Greenhouse, and adjacent systems, connecting employee lifecycle processes around authoritative data sources\nPartner with Security and Corporate Engineering on reusable access services for applications and agents, enforcing user permissions and business approval requirements, and capturing audit evidence\nMake technical design and build-versus-buy decisions through shared architecture and security reviews, accounting for existing capabilities and total cost of ownership\nOwn delivery from design through business acceptance, release, evaluation, and ongoing support, retiring redundant tools and manual processes as capabilities mature\nWhat You Bring\nA track record of independently shipping and supporting custom applications, enterprise integrations, or automation solutions\nStrong technical skills across application development, APIs, data flows, and automation tooling, with judgment about when to configure, integrate, or build\nDemonstrated ability to build production-grade LLM applications and tool-using AI agents, with hands-on experience using integration protocols such as MCP to integrate agents with enterprise systems\nPractical Workday expertise across integrations, security, business processes, and workforce data, supported by a working knowledge of the employee lifecycle\nAbility to translate ambiguous needs into maintainable solutions, secure access patterns, and achievable delivery commitments\nClear communication with engineers, People partners, and senior stakeholders about architecture, trade-offs, total cost of ownership, and risk\nOutcomes You’ll Own\nGreater operational capacity through custom tooling, automation, and agent-led self-service, measured by successful task completion and reduced manual effort\nUseful AI capabilities in production, with performance measured against defined success criteria, appropriate guardrails, and effective human escalation\nTrusted workforce data and secure access across connected systems, with clear authority, enforced permissions, and traceable actions\nReliable services and predictable delivery, measured against published service levels, agreed dates, and measurable business impact\nA simpler, supportable technology estate, with reusable capabilities, fewer redundant tools, understood operating costs, and clear ownership\nWhat we can offer you\nAt Nscale, you'll find a collaborative, supportive, and innovative environment where your contributions spark real impact.
