This role performs skilled building maintenance, carpentry, painting, flooring, ceiling work, furniture and equipment setup, grounds care, snow removal, fleet and grounds equipment operation, warehouse support, and building preventative maintenance. The position helps ensure that buildings, sidewalks, parking lots, landscaped areas, service areas, and campus equipment are maintained in a safe, attractive, and operationally effective condition.\nEssential Functions and Responsibilities\nThe following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodation.\nBuilding Maintenance, Carpentry, and Installation\nInstall and repair doors, windows, cabinetry, trim, mirrors, signs, display cases, office decorations, and custom woodwork.\nBuild, repair, refinish, assemble, arrange, and install furniture, fixtures, partition walls, desks, tables, benches, lab benches, shop equipment, and specialized instructional or service equipment.\nMaintain stock, order replacement parts, manage supplies and tools, complete basic HVAC and building preventative maintenance, (e.g. Air filter changes, belts, Greasing, and diffusers.) and update records.\nPerform layout, measuring, installation, and repair work using appropriate tools, laser levels, and safe work practices.\nPainting, Drywall, Ceilings, and Flooring\nInstall, repair, and finish drywall, including hanging sheets, installing corner bead, taping, mudding, texturing, and smooth finishing.\nPerform painting, wallpaper work, color changes, touchups, and maintain records of new and existing colors across projects.\nInstall new and modify existing drop ceiling systems, including layout, material sourcing, and repair work.\nInstall, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on carpet, vinyl, tile, wood, luxury vinyl tile, laminate, and epoxy flooring.\nMaintain inventories of paint, flooring, ceiling, and related materials; rotate stock and purchase supplies as needed.\nGrounds Maintenance and Campus Care\nPerform all duties directly associated with grounds maintenance and care, including mowing, cutting, trimming, and maintaining grass-covered areas.\nMaintain shrubs, flower beds, trees, and other horticultural areas; repair damage caused by construction, vandalism, natural events, disease, or other causes.\nEvaluate and recommend improvements that enhance campus aesthetics, efficiency, and grounds maintenance practices.\nMaintain outside signage, furniture, flags, refuse containers, protective barriers, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and other exterior areas.\nMaintain outside trash containers, pick up trash and debris from grounds, and collect recycling.\nProvide guidance to part-time summer help crews as assigned.\nSnow Removal, and Seasonal Operations\nClear snow and ice from sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, entrances, and other assigned exterior areas.\nPrepare and maintain equipment and exterior areas for changing seasonal conditions.\nOperate and maintain snow removal equipment to keep campus open and safe. Snow removal may require shift hours to be adjusted to accommodate the needs of the college.\nEquipment, Fleet, Warehouse, and Courier Support\nOperate, inspect, clean, and perform routine preventative maintenance on fleet, grounds, and related support equipment; maintain equipment records and coordinate repairs, parts, and service needs to keep equipment safe and operational.\nProvide warehouse support, including receiving, organizing, moving, staging, and maintaining inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment.\nProvide courier and delivery support between College locations as needed.\nSafety, Compliance, and Team Support\nKnow and practice safety precautions in the performance of all duties, including appropriate use, handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.\nSelectively apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides to grounds and maintain all required records; maintain or acquire required applicator certification within the timeframe established by NTC.\nComply with emergency assignments as directed by a supervisor or member of management.\nCommunicate effectively with co-workers, faculty, students, management, administration, and members of the public using College facilities and grounds.\nPerform other related duties as assigned.\nOther Responsibilities\nConduct forklift and telehandler training for employees, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational best practices.\nMinimum Qualifications Required\nIn limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.\nEducation: High School Education / GED\nHigh School Diploma or GED required.
