This role supports the security team in daily security operations, coordinates student security workers, and provides outstanding customer service through a supportive, people-centered approach while remaining alert to potential safety concerns. This role contributes to daily security operations and works closely with Security Students to ensure that they have the tools they need to successfully complete their daily duties.\nEssential Functions and Responsibilities\nSecurity Operations, Alternative High & Customer Service\nConduct security screenings at the Alternative High School, including metal detector checks, to prevent unauthorized items.\nPatrol campus areas, respond to safety concerns, and provide personal escort assistance.\nAssist with vehicle jump-starts, vehicle lock-outs, lost and found processing, provide directions to campus locations, and other customer service-related duties as they arise.\nMaintain strong campus relations through community policing efforts.\nOversee scheduling, training, and coordination of student security workers to ensure adequate coverage and provide the tools and guidance needed to complete their daily duties.\nProvide educational security presentations to employees and students as assigned.\nIncident Reporting & Emergency Response\nConduct investigations, document security incidents, policy violations, and safety concerns.\nEnsure all security incidents and policy violations, and safety concerns are properly documented in Maxient.\nCollaborate with Human Resources and Student Services on incident reporting and record maintenance in support of Clery Act and Title IX compliance. \nRespond to campus emergencies, including medical situations, severe weather, and fire alarms.\nSupport law enforcement coordination and activate emergency protocols when necessary. \nFacility & Preventative Maintenance\nMonitor and report facility hazards, security camera malfunctions, and access control issues.\nSubmit work orders for maintenance needs and assist with minor winter maintenance tasks.\nEnsure proper placement of emergency signage and assist with event security.\nBuilding & Fire Safety\nConduct routine facility checks, ensuring secure access points and clear evacuation routes.\nOversee fire extinguisher inspections and ensure compliance with safety regulations.\nOversee quarterly first responder bag inspections.\nMinimum Qualifications Required\nIn limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.\nEducation: Associate's Degree (or Equivalent)\nCriminal Justice or other related field.\nExperience: 2 Years\nTwo years of experience in security, law enforcement, or a related public safety role. Experience in an educational setting and coordinating, training, or supervising student workers or other employees is preferred.\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nIn order to perform the functions and responsibilities of the position (listed above) the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, including language skills, reasoning and mathematical abilities are essential.\nLanguage Skills:\nAbility to read, write and comprehend instructions, reports and emails; speak and may present information to groups.\nMath Skills:\nAbility to add and subtract numbers using basic units of measurement.\nReasoning Ability:\nAbility to critically think and solve problems involving a variety of concrete variables with limited standardization; interpret written, oral and diagrammed instructions.\nTechnical Skills:\nAbility to manage and track document changes; create, modify and format templates and files; ability to use multiple computer screens and multitask in several computer applications.\nCustomer Service Skills:\nAbility to actively listen, discern key information, and respond professionally; ask follow up or clarifying questions to diffuse escalated situations and offer appropriate problem resolution when necessary.\nOther Requirements\nRequired to carry a firearm as part of assigned duties and meet insurance standards for carrying a firearm on campus.
