The role has a strong focus on legacy support, operational stability, troubleshooting, and the controlled retirement of existing databases and data solutions. The successful candidate will work with long-established Microsoft SQL Server and BI environments, supporting the analysis, maintenance, consolidation, migration, and decommissioning of databases, ETL pipelines, interfaces, reports, and semantic models.\nThe successful candidate will work closely with Product Owners, Solution Design, Operations, business stakeholders, and adjacent data and platform teams to ensure stable operations while progressively reducing legacy dependencies. This is a senior hands-on engineering position requiring strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS Tabular Models, and Power BI, as well as the ability to understand complex legacy environments with limited documentation and take technical ownership of operational and retirement activities.\nWhat You'll Be Doing\nAnalyze and resolve production incidents, technical issues, and data quality problems within existing RepSaS solutions\nTroubleshoot and maintain T-SQL code, Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, SQL Agent Jobs, and ETL pipelines\nAnalyze and optimize SQL queries, database objects, execution plans, indexes, loading processes, and overall database performance\nMaintain, stabilize, and selectively refactor long-established database and reporting logic\nMonitor production environments, perform root-cause analysis, and document bug fixes and workarounds\nPerform technical assessments of existing databases and identify users, dependencies, data flows, interfaces, loading jobs, reports, and semantic models\nEvaluate which database objects and solutions should be maintained, migrated, consolidated, archived, or retired\nPrepare and support controlled database decommissioning activities, including technical checks, documentation, and rollback options\nSupport data and logic migrations from RepSaS into agreed target environments\nMaintain and troubleshoot existing Power BI reports and datasets\nMaintain and optimize SSAS Tabular Models, including relationships, measures, processing, and DAX logic\nValidate KPIs, data quality, and functional and technical consistency across reporting solutions\nAnalyze report and data dependencies to support migration and retirement decisions\nDocument data flows, database objects, interfaces, dependencies, and retirement activities\nEnsure technical knowledge is captured and transferred within the team, particularly for legacy components with limited documentation\nWhat You'll Bring Along\nSeveral years of hands-on experience developing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server and BI solutions\nExpert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)\nExpert-level T-SQL, including complex queries, Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, joins, and troubleshooting\nStrong experience with SQL performance tuning, including execution plans, indexes, query performance analysis, blocking, and resource-intensive queries\nStrong hands-on experience with SSIS and ETL, including maintenance and troubleshooting of existing data loading and transformation pipelines\nStrong experience with SSAS Tabular Models, including semantic models, relationships, measures, processing, and troubleshooting\nStrong experience with Power BI, including reports, datasets, data models, DAX, refresh processes, and permissions\nStrong understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling\nStrong monitoring, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis capabilities in production environments\nExperience with data lineage and dependency analysis, including tracing sources, targets, jobs, interfaces, and data consumers\nExperience with Git and GitLab for version control, change traceability, and team collaboration\nExperience with SQL Server Agent and job scheduling\nGood knowledge of DAX and existing KPI and measure logic\nBasic scripting and automation experience with PowerShell\nUnderstanding of CI/CD processes for traceable builds, deployments, and technical quality assurance\nStrong technical documentation skills, particularly related to data flows, dependencies, interfaces, and database retirement activities\nExperience working with legacy production systems, complex dependencies, and environments with limited documentation\nExperience with database consolidation, migration, or controlled decommissioning is highly desirable\nAbility to work effectively with incidents and bug fixes in business-critical environments\nAdvanced English and German language skills (spoken and written), with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders across international teams\n\nDocument\n\nWhat’s in it for you\nNew beginnings can be a challenge.
