This role leads the teams responsible for acquiring, processing, and delivering operational data from facility systems while ensuring the reliability, scalability, security, and lifecycle management of telemetry services.Working closely with Operational Technology Architecture, Operational Data Platforms, Data Center Operations, Product, and other business stakeholders, the Director ensures telemetry capabilities support operational excellence and enable trusted operational data for internal and external consumers. The role establishes technical direction for telemetry engineering, drives platform standardization, and leads the delivery of resilient, highly available telemetry services across the enterprise.\nWhat we are looking for\nKey Responsibilities:Lead the engineering, implementation, operation, and lifecycle management of enterprise telemetry platforms and services.\nEstablish the technical strategy, standards, and operational roadmap for telemetry capabilities in alignment with business objectives and architectural direction.\nEnsure the availability, performance, security, scalability, and reliability of telemetry infrastructure and operational data collection services.\nEnsure the onboarding, integration, and standardization of operational systems and data sources into enterprise telemetry platforms.\nCollaborate with Operational Technology Architecture to implement scalable, supportable, and maintainable telemetry solutions.\nPartner with Operational Data Platforms to enable reliable, secure, and timely delivery of operational data to enterprise applications, customer-facing services, and analytics platforms.\nBuild, develop, and mentor a high-performing telemetry engineering and operations team while fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.\nEstablish operational processes, monitoring, incident response, capacity planning, and lifecycle management practices for telemetry services.\nEvaluate commercial technologies and emerging capabilities to improve telemetry platforms while balancing innovation, operational stability, and long-term supportability.\nDevelop and maintain technical documentation, operational standards, and platform documentation supporting enterprise telemetry services.\nKnowledge & Attributes:\nWorking knowledge of enterprise telemetry platforms, operational technology systems, systems integration, operational data collection, and platform lifecycle management.\nAbility to lead technical teams, establish operational standards, drive platform reliability, and collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, product, and business organizations.\nKnowledge of Ignition SCADA platform (Inductive Automation) and Niagara Framework (Tridium)\nKnowledge of MQTT telemetry architectures and broker technologies\nKnowledge of industrial protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, OPC-UA)\nKnowledge of EPMS/BMS platforms and field device integration\nKnowledge of SQL-based data platforms and historian systems\nKnowledge of OT/IT network infrastructure and secure communications (TLS)\nKnowledge of telemetry data modeling, normalization, and ingestion pipelines\nKnowledge of large-scale, multi-site OT telemetry deployments\nKnowledge of data center infrastructure systems (UPS, generators, cooling, PDUs)\nKnowledge of ISA-95 and IEC 62443 architecture and OT security principles\nKnowledge of cloud IoT platforms (Azure IoT, AWS IoT)\nKnowledge of system integration, commissioning, and operational monitoring\nAcademic Qualifications & Certifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related technical discipline.\nEquivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.\nIndustry certifications related to cloud platforms, industrial automation, systems engineering, or operational technology.\nLeadership or project delivery certifications are considered an asset.\nRequired Experience:\n10+ years of experience in Operational Technology, industrial automation, telemetry engineering, systems engineering, or related technical disciplines.\nExperience leading engineering and operational teams supporting highly available technology platforms.\nExperience implementing and operating enterprise telemetry or industrial monitoring solutions.\nExperience integrating operational technology systems with enterprise applications, cloud services, and operational data platforms.\nExperience establishing operational processes, monitoring practices, platform lifecycle management, and service reliability.\nExperience leading technical modernization initiatives and evaluating commercial technology solutions.\nDemonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams and delivering operational technology capabilities within complex enterprise environments.\nPhysical Requirements:\nPrimarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending.\nAble to hear and speak into a telephone.\nClose visual work on a computer terminal.\nDexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.\nWork Conditions & Other Requirements:\nAbility to travel domestically and internationally, as business needs require.\nParticipation in technical planning sessions, site visits, industry conferences, and vendor engagements.\nAbility to support critical initiatives outside normal business hours when required.\nOccasional visits to operational facilities and technical environments requiring adherence to applicable safety and security procedures.\nAbility to communicate effectively with executive leadership, technical teams, business stakeholders, and external partners.\nUID: 3310\nCompensation Pay Range\nFor roles residing in the US, we share pay and benefit levels to support pay transparency requirements. For other countries, we are more than happy to share our competitive pay and benefit levels during the interview process.\nThis is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.\nNTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location.
