If you want to be part of an inclusive, adaptable, and forward-thinking organization, apply now.\nWe are currently seeking a Network/Smart Hands Support Specialist to join our team in Syracuse, New York (US-NY), United States (US).\nThis role provides on-site technical support for network infrastructure, hardware installations, and data center operations through remote NOC. This role is hands-on, requiring physical tasks such as equipment installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and local site-to-site travel. Technicians serve as the on-site extension of the remote NOC and engineering teams, ensuring smooth operations, rapid response to issues, and accurate documentation.\n**This role requires working onsite daily at our client's facility and requires an annual flu shot. \n**Only local applicants will be considered. \nWe support this client 24/7, so this role could include evenings or weekends.\nResponsibilities:\nProvide Smart Hands support for network/server hardware (rack/stack, cabling, hardware swaps).\nTroubleshoot and resolve physical connectivity issues, including cable tracing, module/port replacements, and resets.\nPerform routine equipment maintenance, hardware upgrades, and emergency repairs.\nPower cycling, console access setup, and module disk/power replacements as directed by remote teams.\nDocument work performed, maintain service logs, and update appropriate systems. \nRespond to ticketing system, update tickets to track information and maintain SLAs.\nSupport inventory management, shipping/receiving, and site readiness tasks.\nRespond to emergency situations and participate in rotating on-call schedules.\nFollow safety protocols and adhere to operational procedures and change management policies.\nProvides leadership of projects; contributes to the design of telecommunications/network systems\nTranslates business parameters and objectives into functional and/or technical requirements\nBasic Qualifications:\n5+ years of IT experience\nAbility to lift 50 lbs\nPersonal vehicle for travel between sites\nAdditional Preferences:\nHigh school diploma or trade school training or relevant experience\nStrong understanding of networking (OSI Layers 2 & 3), cabling, and data center operations\nFamiliarity with routers, switches, firewalls, UPS systems, and electrical/cooling infrastructure\nExperience with Visio, testing tools, and interpreting floor plans\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nAble to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks\nReliable transportation and a clean, insurable driving record\nFully vaccinated for flu (as required for hospital access)\nBasic console access and configuration knowledge\nFamiliarity with structured cabling (copper/fiber) and environmental monitoring tools\nExperience with Service Now or similar ticketing/change management systems\nStrong time management, detail-oriented, and able to work independently\nAvailability for shift work, weekends, holidays, and emergency callouts\nPreferred Certifications & Skills:\nCompTIA A+, Network+, or Cisco certifications (CCNA, etc.)\nNTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for U.S.-based positions. The starting pay range for this role is $79,480 - 119,220.
