If you want to be part of an inclusive, adaptable, and forward-thinking organization, apply now.\nWe are currently seeking a Senior AWS Database Migration Architect / Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina (US-NC), United States (US).\nDay to Day job Duties: (what this person will do on a daily/weekly basis)\nDatabase Discovery, Assessment and Planning\nAssess database size, growth, workloads, utilization, dependencies, interfaces, availability requirements, and operating characteristics. \nAnalyze schemas, stored procedures, functions, triggers, extensions, scheduled jobs, security models, and application dependencies. \nClassify databases by compatibility, migration complexity, business criticality, and recommended migration approach. \nSelect target platforms across Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, RDS for MySQL, Aurora PostgreSQL, and Aurora MySQL. \nProduce capacity and sizing recommendations covering compute, memory, storage, IOPS, throughput, availability, backup, and recovery. \nIdentify prerequisites, remediation needs, risks, and technical dependencies; develop migration waves, sequencing, runbooks, rollback procedures, and cutover plans. \nApply and refine the existing migration framework, reusable patterns, standards, templates, scripts, and automation. \nAWS Architecture and Infrastructure\nDesign secure, highly available, and resilient Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora architectures. \nConfigure and support VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, and DNS connectivity. \nDesign Multi-AZ, read replica, backup and restore, snapshot, encryption, monitoring, disaster recovery, and high-availability patterns. \nDesign hybrid connectivity using AWS Direct Connect, VPN, Transit Gateway, and VPC networking. \nPartner with cloud infrastructure and security teams to meet enterprise security, connectivity, and operational requirements. \nDatabase Migration Engineering\nPlan and execute homogeneous and heterogeneous migrations using AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS), AWS Schema Conversion Tool (AWS SCT), or equivalent capabilities. \nImplement full-load and change-data-capture patterns to reduce application downtime. \nPerform schema conversion, data migration, database configuration, performance optimization, and post-migration remediation. \nTroubleshoot compatibility, connectivity, replication, performance, and cutover issues. \nDevelop repeatable procedures that support factory-style migration across large database estates. \nDatabase Administration and Engineering\nProvide hands-on PostgreSQL and MySQL database administration and engineering expertise. \nAnalyze configuration, indexing, query performance, execution plans, connections, locking, replication, and resource utilization. \nDefine backup, restore, maintenance, monitoring, patching, and operational procedures. \nIdentify differences between on-premises implementations and AWS-managed database services and define required remediation. \nPerform performance benchmarking and tuning before and after migration. \nTesting, Validation, DevOps and Automation\nDefine validation strategies for data integrity, schema, application connectivity, functionality, performance, security, backup and recovery, and operational readiness. \nEstablish reconciliation controls for row counts, data completeness, schema objects, and business-critical data. \nDefine acceptance criteria, go/no-go checkpoints, rollback criteria, and production validation steps; support integration testing, UAT, cutover rehearsals, and production migration. \nAutomate infrastructure and database provisioning using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation. \nDevelop reusable automation with Python, Bash, PowerShell, SQL, or similar technologies. \nIntegrate migration activities into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, or comparable tooling. \nMaintain infrastructure code, migration scripts, configuration, and runbooks in Git-based source control and contribute reusable components to the established migration framework. \nBasic Qualifications:\nMinimum 10 years of experience in database engineering, database administration, cloud engineering, or infrastructure engineering, including leadership of complex database migrations. \nMinimum 7 years of hands-on experience administering and engineering PostgreSQL and/or MySQL databases. \nMinimum 5 years of experience designing, building, or operating database solutions on AWS, including Amazon RDS and/or Amazon Aurora. \nMinimum 5 years of experience assessing, planning, or executing migrations of on-premises relational databases to AWS. \nMinimum 3 years of hands-on experience with AWS DMS, including full load, change data capture, monitoring, troubleshooting, and cutover. \nMinimum 3 years of experience with schema conversion and compatibility analysis using AWS SCT or equivalent tooling. \nNTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for U.S.-based positions. The starting pay range for this role is $116,000-154,000 . Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.\nThis position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.\nThis position is eligible for company benefits that will depend on the nature of the role offered.
