This role serves as the technical lead for complex telemetry initiatives, translating architectural direction into scalable, reliable, and maintainable implementations that enable the collection, monitoring, and delivery of operational data.Working closely with Operational Technology Architecture, Telemetry Engineering, Operational Data Platforms, Data Center Operations, and IT Systems, Networks, and Platforms groups, the Senior IIoT & SCADA Engineer designs and implements telemetry solutions, integrates operational systems, and resolves complex technical challenges. The role provides technical mentorship to engineering staff, promotes engineering best practices, and contributes to the continuous evolution of the organization's telemetry capabilities.\nWhat we are looking for\nKey Responsibilities:\nDesign, implement, configure, and maintain enterprise telemetry platforms and operational technology solutions supporting operational data acquisition and monitoring.\nLead the engineering and technical implementation of complex telemetry initiatives, translating architectural designs into scalable and supportable solutions.\nIntegrate operational technology systems with telemetry platforms, enterprise applications, and operational data services.\nDevelop, configure, and maintain telemetry models, alarming strategies, data collection methods, and system integrations supporting operational visibility.\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues affecting telemetry platforms, operational data collection, and systems integration.\nCollaborate with Operational Technology Architecture to implement reference architectures, technical standards, and platform improvements.\nProduce and maintain technical documentation, engineering diagrams, implementation standards, and operational procedures supporting telemetry platforms.\nMentor engineers and provide technical leadership during solution design, implementation, and operational support activities.\nEvaluate new technologies, software capabilities, and engineering approaches to improve platform reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency.\nSupport platform lifecycle activities, including upgrades, modernization initiatives, capacity planning, and continuous improvement efforts.\n Knowledge & Attributes:\nWorking knowledge of enterprise telemetry platforms, operational technology systems, systems integration, and operational data acquisition principles.\nAbility to lead complex technical implementations, troubleshoot multidisciplinary systems, and mentor engineering teams while collaborating effectively across technical disciplines.\nKnowledge of Ignition SCADA platform (Inductive Automation) and Niagara Framework (Tridium)\nKnowledge of MQTT telemetry architectures and broker technologies\nKnowledge of industrial protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, OPC-UA)\nKnowledge of EPMS/BMS platforms and field device integration\nKnowledge of SQL-based data platforms and historian systems\nKnowledge of OT/IT network infrastructure and secure communications (TLS)\nKnowledge of telemetry data modeling, normalization, and ingestion pipelines\nKnowledge of large-scale, multi-site OT telemetry deployments\nKnowledge of data center infrastructure systems (UPS, generators, cooling, PDUs)\nKnowledge of ISA-95 and IEC 62443 architecture and OT security principles\nKnowledge of cloud IoT platforms (Azure IoT, AWS IoT)\nKnowledge of system integration, commissioning, and operational monitoring\nAcademic Qualifications & Certifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related technical discipline.\nEquivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.\nIndustry certifications related to operational technology, industrial automation, cloud platforms, systems engineering, or networking preferred.\nRequired Experience:\n8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting operational technology, telemetry, industrial automation, or systems integration solutions.\nExperience implementing enterprise telemetry platforms and integrating operational systems with enterprise applications and cloud services.\nExperience designing and troubleshooting complex operational technology or telemetry solutions within highly available environments.\nExperience developing technical documentation, implementation standards, and engineering diagrams.\nExperience mentoring technical staff and providing engineering leadership on complex technical initiatives.\nWorking knowledge of industrial communication protocols, systems integration principles, networking concepts, and operational data collection technologies.\nPhysical Requirements:\nPrimarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending.\nAble to hear and speak on the telephone.\nClose visual work on a computer terminal.\nDexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.\nWork Conditions & Other Requirements:\nAbility to travel domestically and internationally, as business needs require.\nParticipation in technical planning sessions, site visits, industry conferences, and vendor Range\nFor roles residing in the US, we share pay and benefit levels to support pay transparency requirements. For other countries, we are more than happy to share our competitive pay and benefit levels during the interview process.\nThis is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.\nNTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location.
