May include company-wide, web-enabled solutions.What you'll be doing\nThe primary responsibility of the Database Administrator is to ensure the performance, integrity and security of databases and processes. Individuals in this position contribute to the design of both back-end organisation of data and front-end accessibility for end-users.\nDatabase Administrators work closely with Change Control, Release Management, Asset and Configuration Management and Capacity and Availability Management to establish the needs of users, monitoring user access and security. They assist in controlling access to databases environments through permissions and privileges.\nKey role and responsibilities:\nAssist with refining the logical design of the database to enable the translation into a specific data model\nAssist with the mapping out of the conceptual design for a planned database\nParticipate in the writing of database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)\nCreate, test and execute data management languages\nMonitor the performance and manage the parameters of the database to ensur the execution of speedy query responses\nMonitor production databases regularly or respond to any database issues by bringing down the database or taking the database offline\nProactively support the development of database utilities and automated reporting.\nSet up data sharing and disk partitioning\nEnable front-end users to access data concurrently in a way or form that suits their particular needs\nWork closely with the Change Control and Release Management functions to commission and install new applications and customising existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose\nApply the patches and upgrade the database as required by the design team\nCommunicate regularly with technical, applications and operational employees to ensure database integrity and security\nMaintain data standards in accordance with business requirements, NTT policies and the data protection legislation\nWork in accordance with the security information requirements and procedures of the company.\nPerform installation, configuration and maintenance of database management systems and related software within the context of a database administration plan\nKnowledge, skills and attributes\nWorking knowledge of data encryption techniques and database querying and management tools\nAbility to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail on each project\nAbility to learn new technologies as needed to provide the best solutions to all stakeholders\nStrong problem analysis skills to include the use of mathematical concepts to validate results\nStrong analytical mind and business acumen\nAbility to collect, organise, disseminate and present significant amounts of information\nAbility to communicate complex IT information in simplified form depending on the target audience\nSound understanding of the principles of data architecture and data services\nSolid knowledge of relational database design and administration\nKnowledge of application development lifecycle and data access layers\nDemonstrate the ability to plan and organise\nProblem-solving aptitude\nExcellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills\nHighly process orientated with great documentation skills\nStrong analytical skills related to working with unstructured datasets\nAbility to manipulate, process and extract value from large, disconnected datasets\nAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlines\nSolid understanding of database design principles\nAbility to manage multiple database and application services in a highly complex integrated environment\nAbility to maintain data integrity of databases\nAcademic qualifications and certifications:\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, information technology or relevant field\nRelevant certification, such as MCSE DBA, oracles associate or equivalent\nRelevant ITIL certification required\nExperience required:\nProven experience working as a Database Administrator\nDemonstrated experience with database backup and recovery best practices\nDemonstrated experience running and creating health assessment reports\nDemonstrated experience working with suppliers to deliver solutions\nDemonstrated experience in Oracle Enterprise\nDemonstrated experience in Microsoft SQL Server\nDemonstrated experience managing databases\nWorkplace type:\nAbout NTT DATA\nNTT DATA is a $30+ billion trusted global innovator of business and technology services.
