{"id":1566879,"url":"https://alion.io/job/nu-heat-engineering-manager","title":"Engineering Manager","company":{"id":1977286,"name":"Nu-Heat","domain":"nu-heat.co.uk","url":"https://alion.io/company/nu-heat","size_band":null,"is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"Workday","truth_index":null},"role":"Leadership","role_family":"Leadership","seniority":"lead","employment_type":"full_time","work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["United Kingdom"],"countries":["GB"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":null,"salary_estimate":{"min_usd":90000,"max_usd":188000,"period":"year","method":"role_seniority_country_remote_cell","sample_n":27},"experience_years_min":null,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-09-14T00:00:00Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-09-14","last_verified_at":"2026-10-01T17:18:00Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":18,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":18},"description":"Closing Date for Application:\nSunday 18/10/2026We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious Engineering Manager to lead our engineering, maintenance, site services, facilities and capital projects function across our Building Products sites.\nThis is a high-impact leadership role for an engineering professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and has the vision, commercial awareness and leadership capability to drive operational excellence.\nThe Role\nAs the Engineering Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across engineering and maintenance, working closely with production and other manufacturing functions to maximise equipment reliability, minimise waste and continuously improve our processes.\nYou will lead a sizeable engineering and maintenance workforce across multiple Building Products sites, developing a consistent approach to engineering standards, maintenance, CMMS, training, compliance and service delivery.\nYou’ll also champion Lean, TPM and Continuous Improvement, embedding a culture where teams actively identify opportunities, solve problems and continually raise performance.\nA key part of the role will be managing both minor and major capital projects, including significant machinery installations, refurbishments and site improvements, with individual projects valued at £2.5m+.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead, develop and inspire the Engineering, Maintenance and Facilities teams across the Broomhouse Lane and Neale Road sites.\n\nDevelop and implement the engineering strategy, policies, standards and processes to drive operational excellence, reliability and continuous improvement.\n\nProvide engineering leadership for automated manufacturing equipment across upstream and downstream processes, ensuring high standards of maintenance, reliability and performance.\n\nDrive TPM, Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices, including 5S, Kaizen, Visual Management and Value Stream Mapping, to improve efficiency, reduce waste and optimise costs.\n\nEstablish consistent engineering standards across both sites, including CMMS, training, service delivery, contractor management and compliance.\n\nLead cross-functional problem-solving and root-cause analysis to deliver sustainable improvements to product, process and equipment performance.\n\nLead major and minor capital projects from planning and procurement through installation, commissioning and handover, ensuring PMO governance and agreed KPIs for cost, schedule, safety, quality and compliance.\n\nManage capital expenditure budgets, including financial control, forecasting and reporting.\n\nEnsure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and engineering standards, including PUWER, LOLER and electrical safety, while proactively managing engineering, operational and compliance risks.\n\nEnsure the safety, welfare and professionalism of employees, visitors and customers through a proactive, best-practice engineering function.\n\nOversee site services, including security, cleaning and catering, and ensure buildings, facilities, infrastructure and equipment are maintained to safe, compliant and high standards.\n\nProvide clear and timely engineering performance reporting to operational and senior management, travelling between sites as required.\n\nAbout You\nWe’re looking for an accomplished engineering leader with a proven track record within a dynamic, high-volume manufacturing environment.\nYou’ll combine strong technical knowledge with commercial understanding and exceptional people leadership. You’ll be comfortable moving between strategic planning and hands-on operational problem solving, and you’ll have the credibility to influence stakeholders at every level of the organisation.\nYou'll ideally bring:\nDegree-level engineering qualification or equivalent relevant experience.\n\nSignificant senior engineering, maintenance or facilities leadership experience within a manufacturing environment, including leadership of sizeable teams.\n\nStrong financial and budget management experience, including CAPEX and projects exceeding £2.5m.\n\nProven experience delivering large-scale installations, refurbishments and capital projects.\n\nExperience supporting automated manufacturing equipment and production processes.\n\nStrong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies; TPM experience would be advantageous.\n\nExcellent knowledge of engineering, health & safety and legislative compliance requirements.\n\nProven experience managing contractors and external service providers.\n\nExcellent communication, presentation, influencing and stakeholder management skills.\n\nA decisive, analytical and creative approach to problem-solving, with the energy and resilience to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.\n\nA genuine commitment to quality, operational excellence and continuously raising standards.\n\nWorking Hours & Benefits:\nMonday - Friday, 40 hours per week\n\nCompetitive salary within the current market\n\nCar or Car allowance\n\n10% management bonus\n\nContributory pension scheme - matched up to 8%\n\nLife assurance\n\nEnhanced Maternity & Paternity pay\n\nSave as you earn Sharesave Scheme\n\nVarious health & wellbeing initiatives including complimentary occupational health on-site physiotherapy and counselling services\n\nStaff discount on all Genuit Group products\n\nHere at the Genuit Group we recognise and develop the contribution our people make to the Group’s success and are committed to attracting talent from the widest pool.
