Position Summary
Under the supervision of an Engineer perform mechanical assembly tasks including mounting components and performing rough alignment, mating vacuum flanges, making plumbing connections, hydrostatic testing, and ultrasonic parts cleaning.
Attention to detail, the ability to interpret drawings, and a focus on safety are musts and is key to success in this role.
This is a part-time internship position with expectation of up to 20 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Familiarity with basic mechanical assembly
Ability to read schematics and diagrams including P&ID diagrams
Possess knowledge of basic hand tools such as torque wrenches, calipers, drills, taps and dies, and the ability to properly use and care for them
Other duties or locations as assigned by Manager
Strong reading comprehension, attention to detail, and organized
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds independently, with assistance or appropriate equipment for heavier items
Up to 20 hours per week availability, must be willing to work overtime and/or weekends when needed
Preferred Qualifications:
A self-starter; ability to be punctual and dependable
Ability to meet deadlines
Good vacuum hygiene practices
Alignment and metrology familiarity
Proficient in basic math (algebra)
Proficient in measuring tools as required
Proficient in using computers to obtain and document information.
