This role will leverage experience with gas-fired boilers, electrified boilers, heat exchangers, electric heaters, steam valves and steam control systems combined with analytical skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and innovative team. Steam systems experience is required, basic understanding of nuclear power generation is preferred.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nLeads the development of process steam systems for pressure/heat-augmentation, distribution and interfaces with industrial steam consumer facilities.\nDefines requirements and specifications. Identifies and proposes optimal solutions to meet customer requirements through technical analysis and cost/benefit trade-off analysis.\nPerforms thermodynamic analysis of steam systems using modeling and simulation tools.\nWorks on complex tasks in multiple and diverse areas. Stays current on latest technologies and processes relevant for process steam and industrial power applications.\nDefines the scope of work of interdisciplinary systems and acts as the technical liaison between the R&D team, procurement and external EPC and subcontractors.\nPerforms other duties as assigned\nCORE COMPETENCIES: To perform the job successfully, the individual should demonstrate competencies in performing the essential functions of this position by performing satisfactorily in each of these competencies.\nProblem solving:Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and reviews information appropriately. Ability to develop strong interpersonal networks within the organization.\nPlanning/organizing:Prioritizes and plans work activities, organizes personal and project timelines and deadlines, tracks project timelines and deadlines, and uses time efficiently. \nAdaptability:Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent interruptions, changes, delays, or unexpected events.\nDependability:Consistently on time and at work, responds to management expectations and solicits feedback to improve performance.\nTeam Building:Capable of developing strong interpersonal networks and trust within the organization.\nSafety Culture:Adheres to the NuScale Safety culture and is expected to model safe behavior and influence peers to meet high standards. \nQuality Assurance:Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1 preferred. \nMINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:\nEducation:A minimum of a M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Preferred: Emphasis in steam systems analysis; professional engineer (P.E.).\nExperience:A minimum of 5 years of experience in steam and heat distribution system design or operation in the petrochemical and chemical industries. Preferred experience includes:Experience with Heat Exchanger Design, Steam Valves, Safety System\nSystem Integration, Mechanical Actuators, Valves, Control Systems, Safety Systems and Instrumentation\nExperience preparing test procedures, and defining operating limits\nCentrifugal compressors systems and anti-surge control mechanisms\nExperience with I&C systems for steam generation, steam valves, safety systems and integration of closed-loop SCADA controlled systems and industrial processes.\nExperience supporting cross-functional teams including diverse engineering disciplines, operations, maintenance, planning, etc.\nParticipation with industry standards associations or working groups\nDemonstrated project management skills\n\nIndustry Requirements:Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810. \nPHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
