Your unique skills and talents are key to making impactful strides in today's electrified world! \nR&D Designer Internship\nnVent’s R&D Designer Internship provides hands-on experience developing mechanical design and drafting skills while supporting real-world product development. This position is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in mechanical drafting, mechanical design, CAD technology, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field.\nWorking alongside experienced engineers and designers, you will gain practical experience creating drawings, models, and engineering documentation while learning how products move from concept to manufacturing.\nIn this position, you will:\nCreate and update 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks.\nAssist with detailing, dimensioning, and preparing drawings for manufacturing.\nRevise drawings and models based on engineering feedback and design changes.\nLearn and apply company drafting standards, engineering practices, and revision-control processes.\nWork with engineers and designers to develop and improve mechanical designs.\nGain exposure to manufacturing and quality considerations during the design process.\nParticipate in design reviews and learn how designs are evaluated for function, manufacturability, and quality.\nMaintain accurate and organized engineering documentation.\nWhat You Will Experience\nThis internship is designed to provide meaningful hands-on experience while continuing to build your technical skills and knowledge.\nHands-On Learning: Work on real product development projects and apply what you are learning in school.\nMentorship: Work closely with experienced engineers and designers who will provide guidance and feedback.\nCross-Functional Experience: Gain exposure to Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and the product development process.\nProfessional Development: Build communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and engineering skills in a professional environment.\nCareer Opportunities: Strong performers may have opportunities for future internships, co-ops, or full-time employment with nVent.\nProgram Details:\nCompetitive hourly pay at $25.00 per hour\nRelocation and housing support is available for eligible candidates \nInterns receive paid time off, paid sick time, paid volunteer time, and paid holidays \nThis role is on-site in Anoka, MN\nYou Have:\nCurrently enrolled in a Mechanical Drafting, Mechanical Design, CAD Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree program.\nCompleted introductory coursework in CAD, technical drawing, or mechanical design.\nBasic experience with SolidWorks or a similar 3D CAD system.\nAbility to read and understand basic mechanical drawings.\nUnderstanding of basic drafting concepts such as dimensions, orthographic views, and section views.\nStrong attention to detail and willingness to learn.\nAbility to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with others.\nA willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and take on new challenges.\nPrevious professional engineering or design experience is not required.
