They will build common practices, coach engineering teams, establish engineering standards, and ultimately develop a team that enables predictable product development outcomes across multiple business units. This role is a key member of the Engineering Excellence organization.\nWHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:\nDesign Quality Excellence\nDevelop and implement standard engineering practices that improve design quality and development consistency.\nEstablish scalable design review methodologies and standard processes.\nDefine engineering readiness and technical maturity expectations throughout the product development lifecycle.\nPartner with engineering leaders to improve technical rigor while maintaining development speed.\nProvide independent technical challenge and feedback during development reviews.\nDefine expectations for system architecture, multi-functional design reviews, design maturity, issue closure, and required technical evidence.\nEnsure customer requirements, product requirements, critical-to-quality characteristics, and initial risks are translated into clear engineering inputs early in development.\nVerification & Validation Excellence\nEstablish common verification and validation methodologies across the organization.\nDefine expectations for verification strategies, test planning, test evidence, and requirements-to-test traceability.\nDevelop scalable approaches for requirements-to-test traceability.\nPartner with engineering teams to improve verification planning early in development.\nSupport readiness assessments for major product development milestones.\nEnsure validation confirms that requirements and critical-to-quality characteristics have been met and that results are appropriately documented.\nEstablish measures that evaluate verification and validation effectiveness, including coverage, issue discovery, closure, and retest.\nDevelopment Assurance & NPI Readiness\nOwn the technical assurance framework and evidence expectations for key NPI tollgates and verification checkpoints.\nDefine scalable entry and exit criteria for EV, DV, PV, and launch readiness based on product risk and complexity.\nAssess technical maturity, quality and reliability risk, and completeness of required engineering evidence.\nEnsure unresolved technical risks, exceptions, and deviations are clearly documented, owned, time-bound, and visible to decision-makers.\nPartner with Engineering leaders and PMO to integrate quality, reliability, and technical-readiness inputs into NPI stage-gate decisions.\nSupport risk-based application of the assurance process to maintain rigor without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.\nReliability Engineering\nDevelop and deploy reliability engineering methodologies appropriate to product risk and complexity.\nEstablish frameworks for DFMEA, risk assessment, reliability planning, and reliability growth.\nDrive proactive identification and mitigation of technical risk.\nPartner with engineering teams to integrate reliability considerations earlier in the design process.\nBuild and lead reliability engineering capabilities over time.\nEstablish reliability targets and measures that connect development evidence to post-launch field performance.\nBuild and lead reliability engineering capabilities over time.\nEngineering Standards & Continuous Improvement\nCreate practical engineering standard work, templates, tools, and guidance materials.\nIdentify gaps in current development practices and drive systemic improvements.\nCapture and institutionalize engineering lessons learned across business units.\nEstablish metrics and dashboards that measure engineering effectiveness and product readiness.\nPromote a culture of continuous improvement and learning.\nPartner with Sustaining Engineering, Quality, Service, and business engineering teams to identify systemic trends and prioritize corrective actions.\nEstablish metrics and dashboards that measure product readiness, open technical risk, validation effectiveness, field performance, and corrective-action effectiveness.\nOrganizational Leadership\nBuild strong partnerships with Engineering, PMO, Quality, Manufacturing, ISC, Product Management, and Commercial teams.\nInfluence engineering practices across multiple business units without direct authority.\nCoach, mentor, and develop future engineering excellence and reliability talent.\nLead cross-functional initiatives that improve product development effectiveness.\nBuild and scale the Quality, Reliability and Development Assurance organization as the capability matures.\nYOU HAVE:\nBachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical field.\n8+ years of engineering experience supporting NPI or product development environments.\n3+ years leading engineering teams, technical programs, or engineering process improvement initiatives.\nDemonstrated experience influencing engineering organizations and driving adoption of new practices.\nExperience leading or participating in design reviews, technical reviews, and product development governance.\nStrong understanding of product development lifecycles and engineering standards.\nAbility to balance technical rigor with business speed and practicality.\nIdeally, experience in reliability engineering, systems engineering, verification & validation, or design quality disciplines.\nExperience implementing engineering processes or development frameworks across multiple teams or business units.\nKnowledge of DFMEA, risk management, systems engineering, APQP, Design for Six Sigma, or related methodologies preferred.\nExperience developing engineering standards, design review frameworks, or product development operating models preferred.\nExperience building new Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance.
