In this role you will enable rapid planner and controller algorithm development by providing critical evaluation products. You will develop novel evaluation methodologies and the metrics needed to power them. This is an open-ended and unsolved space which requires creativity and inventiveness.\nWhat you will be doing:\nDefine and develop metrics that enable rapid debugging, testing, and evaluation of our Autonomous Vehicle software.\nBuild compelling, data driven evaluation products by combining on-road driving analysis, large scale simulation, models, metrics and dashboards.\nCollaborate with machine learning engineers, infrastructure engineers and roboticists to develop novel solutions to open-ended problems\nWork with the Planning & Control team to develop and drive software testing strategies\nWhat we need to see:\nMS, or PhD or equivalent experience in data science, electrical, mechanical, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science or similar fields\n8+ years experience working in software engineering, data science, and/or experiment design roles\nHighly proficient in Python and associated libraries (Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, Matplotlib)\nFamiliarity programming with GIT in Linux (Ubuntu) or another Unix based system\nAbility and enthusiasm to ramp up quickly on new technical domains\nAbility to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced environment\nExcellent organizational and interpersonal skills\nWays to stand out from the crowd:\nExperience developing on-board planning algorithms\nDeveloped metrics for autonomous vehicle robotics systems\nExperience with evaluating precision and recall of performance metrics\nFamiliarity with C++\nExperience with working in a large monorepo and with Bazel as well as prior knowledge about vehicle simulation, path planning, vehicle control, Drive-by-Wire systems, and self-driving technologies.\nYour base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
